I used these with my PC and the recommended mounting disk. I found then too work well in most cases. My only gripe is that the edges of the pad cake with polish very quickley which required frequent cleanings. I believe this is due to the fact that the pads are too big for the mouning disk resulting in not enough pressure applied to the edges. I would recommend these pads for the PC polishing first timer. I will buy the SFX pads next time though.

Complete foam pad kit for the Porter Cable 7424 Dual-Action Polisher!
Proper polishing of a paint finish requires several grades (abrasive levels) of polish. You start with a cutting polish (fine compound) to remove heavy oxidation, scratches, heavy swirl marks and stains. When these blemishes are gone or diminished to the point where they are no longer noticeable, you switch to a polish with moderate abrasiveness to finesse remaining trouble areas (without removing excessive paint thickness) and restore overall gloss. To add exceptional gloss, and maintain the high gloss finish, you use an ultra-fine polish with very low abrasives.
Just as each of these polishing steps requires a different level of polish, each step demands a different density foam buffing pad.
