I purchased this product with complete confidence about 3-4 weeks ago. I went based on reviews made others on Autopia that it was a quality product and capable of the daily grind.
Unfortunately, this was not the case. After one or two polishing sessions, this polisher went into sick mode. It made all kinds of strange noises and sparked inside the motor where the vents are located. Then, one day, smoke poured out of the machine.
Contacted Flex and they seemed confused and told me they never had an issue with overheating with the Flex 3401. Well, I didn't own a 3401, I owned a 3403. They also didn't promise a replacement, which I expected. I was expected to ship it to the U.S. at my own cost and also incur any potential border duties or taxes on its way back.
I purchased a Dewalt DW849 while the 3403 was on the mend. I am quite satisfied with it. The Dewalt is a much better built machine and will certainly last me a few years. I will be using it for now on.
