I believe most cf hoods are clearcoated, so you could **probably** polish and wax just like normal paint.

The CF roof on my M3 CSL was clearcoated so I just treated it like paint. Bare CF is an entirely different matter as it takes on the characteristics of a textured plastic so most "normal" products will stain it.

^^ yeah. washing is usually the most i can do to dress "real" or uncoated CF.
thanks guys i was guessing that but i thought there may be some kind of protectant or something to put on it to keep it looking good.
many carbon fiber parts are made with an epoxy resin. It may or may not be clear coated. I`d be careful - I`m not sure how much epoxy will marr or cloud up.
could you not use VM as you can use it on trim?? epoxy will scratch easily but you could maybe even try a polymer preserver?
