Quick Review: Finish Kare FK1000P Hi-Temp Paste Wax Review
Finish Kare`s FK 1000P Hi-Temp Paste Wax is one of those few products that most people seem to really enjoy. It is credited with creating a unique "extra layer of clearcoat" appearance, intense water beading, and having really good durability.
FK 1000P Hi-Temp Wax isn`t really a wax, but a synthetic paste sealant created using a West German process known as Synthesis. The result is a paste wax that can withstand temperatures above 250 degrees, has extreme hardness, extreme slickness, and is detergent resistant.
Packaging: FK 1000P comes in an old school tin with a press-fit lid. You have to use a tool, such as a flat-head screwdriver to open. Once inside you will find FK1000P to have a thick, hard consitancey and a chemical smell.
Application: FK 1000P doesn`t load on the applicator as easily as some boutique carnauba paste waxes nor does each load spread as far so you will find yourself loading the applicator more than you may be used to. However it spreads very easily with just a little `grabbing` at the paint.
Usage: Once applied to the paint allow to haze before removal. The consistency of the wax suggests if you apply it too thickly that it could be difficult to remove. However a fine haze will appear several minutes after application if applied correctly.
Removal: FK 1000P removes extremely easy if not over-applied. A light wipe from a medium nap microfiber is all that is needed. In testing over 5 cars I did not notice any sweating, streaking, or shadowing on the paint, just complete removal with minimal effort.
Characteristics: The paint surface will feel slick and smooth. The slickness will increase slightly over then next 4-12 hours (depending on environmental conditions). Finish Kare FK1000P Hi-Temp Paste Wax creates a glass like finish that looks like a thick layer of clear on the car. Water beading will be tall and intense. Most users report that FK1000P will last at least 3 months with some users finding 5-7 months more common.
FK1000P comes in an old school tin that requires a tool to open. The wax is yellow and has a strong chemical scent. You will need a foam applicator and soft microfiber towel. As with any way or sealant the paint should be washed and clayed if necessary to promote proper bonding.

FK1000P is extremely hard in consistency requiring more loading of the applicator. However it applies extremely thin. Be careful not to apply to thickly.

Remove with a soft, high quality microfiber towel to reveal to the "layer of clear coat" look.

Re: Quick Review: Finish Kare FK1000P Hi-Temp Paste Wax Review

That would be a sealant on top of a sealant which would be rather pointless wouldn`t it?

I still have not tried this stuff yet. I always hear great things about it. Thanks for the review. I like the old school appeal to it also.

Great review Todd. This is one wax that I have never tried. I have heard that durability is excellent.

This product always comes up when discussing durability waxes/sealants. I have been meaning to try it too.

Is there still a West Germany? Sounds so "cold war".

Great review, the car looks sweet, I like to use a polishing pal and a 4" black LC flat pad to apply
Re: Quick Review: Finish Kare FK1000P Hi-Temp Paste Wax Review
The look of it sitting in the can with that type of lid reminds me of the old Simoniz paste wax in the yellow can from the 50`s-60`s.

I was thinking about putting it on my car with a DA and small gold pads to see how it applies via machine.
