hello from the great (empty) Wyoming!

Hello all, My name is Neal Wilkinson(crowd responds "hello Neal") and I currently live in wyoming.

ill just jump into answering as many of the questions posted in the introduce yourself sticky...

    1. How did you wind up at Autopia?
I was on E46fanatics looking at their detailing thread by detailed image(best people i know in the entire world), and many members recommended this site

    2. What do you like most about detailing?
I love the before and after, seeing how ratty a car was to begin with and after a day or two seeing it shine and glimmer like a million bucks!

    3. What are your favorite products/processes and why?
Im a little new to this particular group of processes and brands, but from what I have read I will be sticking to menzerna products and rotary buffers

    4. What`s your dream car and why?
Id have to say a lamborghini sesto elemento, ferrari F40/60(basically a tie) and an origional AC cobra with the engine that pissed the italians off!

    5. What`s the best thing you learned on Autopia?
im just introducing myself! havent read much here

    6. What are some of your other hobbies and interests?
    I snowboard and paintball most
    7. Do you have any pets? If so, types, names, pics.
    nope
    8. Name three secret techniques that you think you should share to fellow Autopians.
my last car I bought was a smokers car. I worked cleaning carpets my teenage years so I had a few tricks up my sleeve, and I used all of them and the car no longer smelt after a few days. 1) wipe ALL hard surfaces with vinegar water(1:1 or even 2:1 vinegar:water) 2) make a baking soda paste and rub into all cloth/fabric. DONT FORGET THE HEADLINER!! the headliner and seats can be extracted using an upholstery extractor(or a shop vac if youre ghetto like I was) if needed, let everything sit as long as you can(shouldnt cause staining, as its baking soda, didnt stain for me) use pelnty of water when extracting to rinse everything out. 3) after that sprinkle baking soda on all fabric again(no paste this time) and shove as much newspaper under the seats as possible. let it all sit a few days( my baking soda started turning brown it was absorbing so much smoke. vacuum all well and viola!! you should have a smell free car!

    9. Where are you from and where do you live now?
I was born i auburn washington, between seattle and tacoma, and now live two hours away from casper, Wyoming

    10. What was you first car and what got you interested in keeping cars perfect?
My first car was a 1976 buick skylark. What got me interested was Me and a friend got a job at a wash bay at a car dealership, and we both had rather ghetto cars, but for some reason we would wash, clay and wax them weekly, I even kept a mini detailing/touch-up kit in my car(which came in handy many times! especially when he put a slice of cheesecake upside down on the roof of my car!) I also Have an uncle who takes meticulous care of all his vehicles. He regulary paints the tailpipe silver(unless its chrome) and I remember hearing a story when he was a teenager of him flipping out when he found a frenchfry under the seat(i think it was a `66 buick electra. buicks run in the family)

    11. What motivates you to detail?
Many times its when I look at the car and I feel ambarrased to be driving it around with so many scratches and looking ghetto(to me) also, if i feel stressed out, cleaning the car can help release stress

    12. Would you ever pay someone else to detail your car?
to detail, unless it was something(or a car) i was not comfortable with(really only if it was a really nice car like one of the ferraris or lambo on my dream car list, Id still do the detailing on the cobra)

    13. Does detailing run in the family at all, or are you the only normal one?
    my uncle as mentioned above

    14. What is your favorite part about detailing?
    question #2?

    15. If detailing is a hobby for you, would you like to do it full time, or do you feel that it would take the fun out of it?
I dont know if i would do it full time, but part time on the side would be nice!

    well,
th th th th th th th th th th th th thats all folks!!!
