    Re: Cheap Ibrid nano alternative

Yeah I cranked it up to near max speed and was still able to control it, I just knew my pad was getting destroyed at that point. My only "complain" would be that there`s quite a bit of vibration, but at the same time it`s a tool that I`ll be using all the time so I`m not concerned.

I haven`t used mine as much as you have Migue, but I haven`t noticed much vibration with my setup.

Unless you want to pony up and pay the big bucks for fast delivery. I try to plan ahead and order all my stuff this winter for spring, to me it`s worth the savings to wait for the shipping.

I noticed your extension is "beefier" on the hand grip area, maybe yours has better energy absorption since mine is hard plastic and slimmer.

I bet that is the difference, because it seems very smooth. A matter of fact I was prepared for more vibration then there was, and was a little shocked how smooth it is.
Thanks Migue thanked for this post

How is it working for you?

I have seen this one and like everything about the Proxxon except the price. If it was priced around the $100 or less price range it could be a good deal. I would think they would sell a ton of them at a lower price.

I ordered 1" and 2" pads and backing plates with 3mm shanks to go along with my variable speed rotary tool, right angle attachment, and flex hose. It works great to get into tight spots like door handles, around mirrors, bumpers, door jams, painted window trim, ect. The key to this setup is a variable speed rotary tool. With the 1" pads I use speed 2 or 3 depending on how much pressure applied to the pad and which pad I`m using. With 2" pads I use speeds 3,4,or 5 depending on pad and pressure. Both the right angle attachment or the flex hose works great with the pads, just have to remember it`s a rotary and to keep the pad moving. Here are some pic`s of the setup.

    VERY COOL, Thanks Mick.

So awesome. I just looked at the rupes nano and couldnt chuck out the cash for one. This is perfect. Very interested in the link for the pads and backing plate.

Great write up! Thanks so much

Yeah I couldn`t bring myself to pay that for a nano either. If someone would come out with a corded version for around the $100- $149, they would sell like crazy.
    PM sent to you.

I initially thought to myself, "smaller must = smaller price tag"... Logical thinking must not apply here

    Re: Cheap Ibrid nano alternative

I have...what?...five (unless I`m forgetting something) rotary tools at present, but I`m still holding out for the "both neck-versions" packaging of the Nanos. I like/use rotary tools for all sorts of stuff, but when it comes to *autopaint* I`m all about a RO/DA action and any place too small for that to matter (it`d have to be AWFULLY small as I`m an anti-hologram-fanatic) I just do by hand. Not flaming those who like this rotary tool-centric approach, but I don`t think it`s for me. And of course, I`m only doing our vehicles so there`s little need to correct paint anyhow.
