    Cool 15 - 21mm Polisher

Ugh - not sure why I am even looking

I have a GG6, GG3, and a Flex PE8. With potential savings around the corner and some money burning a hole in my pocket, I figure why not purchase a new polisher??

I am looking at the BOSS 15, BOSS 21, LHR15 MarkII, or the LHR21 MarkII. I hear such great things about the Rupes polishers about how smooth they are and the only negative is the price (which with the work arounds, they are about the same price is the BOSS systems).

Thoughts and/or opinions? Save my money for a Viper in 10 years?

I mainly work on sedans, but will be printing business cards and hope to bring in business of all kinds. I am just a weekend warrior!

Edit - or buy a bunch of pads and product and "perfect" the craft?

I have a zentool21 and to be honest, and maybe im doing it wrong, but I like the GG6 better. I actually am moving towards a rotary, I dont get the big throw jiggly jiggly personally.

    I have a 15 & 21. Had the mk1s and sold to get the mk2s.
If your doing a lot of cars, the 21 may be a better choice to remove defects.
BUT, for my cars, I`m using the 15.
The 21 is like pulling out the big hammer.
    The 15 is my preferred.
I owned a trashed 98 Grand Marquis. Used the 15 on it previously.
When I got my 21 I polished half the hood and my friend and I couldn`t believe the difference on how fast it corrected.

    Just my $.02

Speed isn`t a big issue. I`m guessing the difference between the two is about an hour.

I guess it comes down to Griot`s or Rupes

I have both the G21 and the Rupes 21 mkii. Personally I love my Rupes and I reach for it more often, however I do like the BOSS system a lot more. I also like that backing plates aren`t so expensive for the boss as well along with their warranty. Overall you can`t go wrong with either one.

Have the G21 and Rupes 15 MKII. I reach for my G21 more often. I prefer the instant start and some of the other ergonomics, but the MKII is a smoother ride overall, but not by a significant margin, IMO.

I use pads from both system with both machines with no problem. Either way you go I promise you won`t want to pick up the GG6 again. I dread having to use it for small panel work - currently trying to sell it and I will just use my Nano until I get a Mini.

The machine runs extremely smooth. You don`t have to constantly push down on the machine for it to correct. The Mark II has a lot of power. It seems to have more power than the 21 when I run a 5" plate and pads. Little things...not that you use it much, but the Allen wrench has it`s own spot it fits into on the machine, no digging through things trying to find it. The Rupes have a rubber piece along the back of the machine that allows you to set it down pads up without the machine falling over.

Just the quality alone. All you have to do is pick up the machine once and run it and you`ll see what I`m talking about. I actually didn`t plan on buying the 15 but when I got the ibird and saw the quality of that machine and the well thought out design of everything, including the case. Then there was the fact that some gift certificates didn`t get applied to my ibird purchase so instead of having them credit my account I went ahead and got the Mark II. Glad I did, and a mini will be next.
