    am i too late?

my personal vehicle is a mess.. before i got into detailing as a hobby, i really didnt care about bug splatter on the front of my vehicle. now that the whole front has etched in.. am i too late? i tried heavy compounding and of course it didnt help.

would this be a good candidate for wet sanding to help/improve it? or do i just need to get it repainted/vinyl wrap it. its mainly on the front bumper/grill and passenger side mirror (driver side was replaced).

i have not wet sanded before but i could practice on the side mirror before moving onto the bumper.

donbeezy- Don`t wetsand that. It already has clearcoat failure and taking off more clear will make things worse instead of better. Just try to maintain it as best you can until if/when you have it repainted.

A good time to show how easy Bug Squash works for you Ron. When applied shortly after splattering. You posted photos somewhere.

Almost appears that it may have been previously re-sprayed. It might just be my eyes but it looks like it has some pits or chips that have been painted over.

Rinsing off the bug goo (a power washer works best) as soon as the drive is over is your best defense against permanent damage, even if all you do is go to a coin-op and rinse the car down, and when you do wash it, don`t scrub really hard, let the soap do the work. Scrubbing = scratches.

If you decide to go in direction of repaint, you should at least have a little fun with a polisher to see what you can do. It really won`t matter at that point what happens.

    Re: am i too late?

Eh, rather than all this "just write it off..." stuff, I`d give it a good, if somewhat gentle, polishing and LSP it and see how it turns out. I bet that from 15 feet away it`d look OK (let alone how it`d look as a "20-20" car) and the overall presentation would be a lot better. My `93 Audi needs a repaint IMO, but it still gets compliments all the time. The Real World isn`t Autopia and just getting that car in decent condition would be a big improvement.
