Product Review: CarPro CQuartz Fabric & Leather Coat

    Introduction:
I recently got a replacement pair of work boots and didn’t like how the Scotchgard held up on the old pair so I decided to try something out that I could use on vehicles as well. Originally I spent $10 on a can of Scotchgard that I was only able to get one application out of. So spending $21.99 (100ml) to try this stuff out was easily justified, not to mention the free shipping no minimum promo that just so happened to be running at the time.

    Product Description / Claims:
Cquartz Fabric & Leather protection is nano-technology based and is an extremely durable Super HydroPhobic product for fabric, vinyl, and leather protecting against UV degradation, sweat, salt, water, liquids, dirt, bacteria, and stains. Fabric & Leather Coat does all this without affecting the breath-ability of the material. Traditional products make fabrics feel stiff and clog the weave of the fabric, preventing breath-ability. They are unable to stand up to tough cleaners and less resistant to wear. Using nanotechnology, our treatment is small enough to attach to individual fibers, delivering superior performance characteristics without compromising the look, feel, or comfort of the fabric and without clogging the fabric weave.
Cquartz Fabric & Leather transforms the substrate into a super hydrophobic surface that is both durable, flexible, and long lasting against harsh or caustic detergents.

    Areas Of Application:
    • Convertible Tops
    • Fabric and leather seats
    • Headliners
    • Fabric Wheel wells
    • Upholstery
    • Carpets
    • Floor Mats
    • Sunshades
    • And more...

    Features:
    • Super Hydrophobic: Liquids are repelled instantly
    • Durability: Withstands mechanical wear for up to a year and withstands strong soaps and high pH intensive detergents
    • UV protection: Protects against UV degeneration while maintaining the supple feel and original color of treated surfaces
    • Breathability remains
    • Versatility: Protect many surfaces such as fabric upholstery, leather, carpets, mats, & convertible fabric tops
    • Suitable for all textiles, vinyl, or finished leather
    • Long lasting protection for textiles and leather against water, dirt and grease
    • Appearance: Transparent
    • Revives dull faded interiors and protects them from further attack
    • Protects leather from surface wear, dirt, and stains.
    • Resists bacteria growth from sweat, dirt, oils, and liquids
    • Requires less cleaning: In most cases simply wipe with a damp microfiber towel
Coverage: (Estimates shown based on spray for fabric and spray/spread for leather)
    • Apply using atomizer, sprayer, (or for leather wiping on is also an option that saves on product)
    • 1.0ml per 1 sq. ft. for leather application
    • 2.7ml per 1 sq. ft for fabric application
    Directions for Fabric:
    • Clean the surface completely from dirt, dust, and all oils and dressings, if cleaner has any by products then steam wipe with damp cloth to remove residue before allowing to dry completely.
    • Shake CQ Fabric & Leather Coat well
    • Spray onto surface evenly
    • Park in the sun or use blow dryer to speed curing time.
    • Must be fully dry and cured before subjecting to traffic or abrasion.
Directions for Finished Leather and Vinyl:
    • Clean the surface completely from dirt, dust, and all oils and dressings, if cleaner has any by products then steam wipe with damp cloth to remove residue before allowing to dry completely.
    • Shake CQ Fabric & Leather Coat well
    • Spray on leather and then spread with CarPro-US Microfiber suede towel (4" or 8") Don`t try to spread too thin but simply spread evenly.
    • Wait approximately one minute and lightly wipe with CarPro-US MicroFiber Suede cloth (8" or 16")
    • Park in the sun or use blow dryer to speed curing time.
    • Must be fully dry and cured before subjecting to traffic or abrasion.
    AfterCare:
    • When dirty simply wipe suface with damp microfiber or use an interior cleaner if you prefer
    • Avoid using shampoos containing wax or silicones or they will temporarily affect the super hydrophobic effect
    Precautions:
    • Test in inconspicuous area on any surface you are unsure of
    • Use in ventilated area
    • Avoid Skin and eye contact
    • Keep Container closed after use
    • Keep away from Children

    Testing:
Below is a quick video testing the hydrophobic properties.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHMGbRj3Wpo"]CarPro CQuartz Fabric & Leather Coating - YouTube[/ame]

    Pros:
    • Ease of application
    • Great atomization from sprayer
    • Product works well so far

      Cons:
    • Strong chemical smell, all similar products have a chemical smell but just something to be cognizant of especially while applying to an interior
    • Confusing safety on the sprayer

      Questions:
    1. Product durability?

    Final Thought / Summary:
Only time will tell how well the product holds up. So far I am extremely happy with the hydrophobic properties, which far surpass Scotchgard. I think I may have found a more durable, economical and versatile product.

looks like it works very well. did the water repel just as well on the cloth sides of the boots too? did it darken the boots any upon application?

It was hard to capture in the video but I sprayed the entire boot and it all repels water the same. Not sure how long it will last on the rubber portion of the sole though. Also, there was no discoloration at all. In fact, with the way it repels dirt and water the boots stay their true shade for longer instead of darkening with time.

Product Review: CarPro CQuartz Fabric & Leather Coat

I use this on leather. One thing I noticed, it seems to hold up well. It adds a bit of gloss to the seat. However, the gloss seems to wear off high traffic areas, but the hydrophobic properties remain.

It`s quite easy to use and spreads forever. I found using a sponge is no good. Use some type of MF to spread it. When you first apply it, the leather feels a bit sticky for a while.

But, this is the only product I`ve used that leaves any evidence that its protecting the seat past a few days.
