    Goodbye m235i :(

So last weekend I traded in my m235i for a more family friendly car.

We have an 8 month old and my wife had been asking me for a while to see if I could get a 4 door or SUV, something a little bit more practical which is the opposite of who I am...who needs practical...

With a lot of sadness and hesitation I finally decided it was probably time to be an adult and traded in my `16 m235i but I didnt want to just trade it in for any car. I needed something that was a BMW, that was still a performer and had a good base for mods but was within budget and made some more financial sense for our period in life. My sales guy found me a nice CPO `13 BMW 335i Sport Line so I bit the bullet on it since some of my mods could transfer over to this car.

My other choices would have been the new m3 or 340i but both were out of budget lol

    Picture of me saying goodbye

    The new "family" car

Paint will need some correction work for sure.

RaydientDetail- Glad your "more practical" ride is still something fun...well, funish compared to the M235i, but it`s still no minivan!

I feel your pain!! The only reason I still have my 335i convertible is because the rear windows roll down allowing me to access my son`s car seat... just the right amount of practical for me!

Nice looking ride, not bad at all for a "family" car.

Awww man! The M235i are such awesome cars. But at least you still got back into the BMW 35i`s. Those engines are intoxicating! I can`t imagine how nice the 340i with the new B58 engine. Insane levels of TQ.

    Congrats on your new ride!

My son had one just like your new one..

Good vehicle. (but the start/stop feature drove me nuts)

    Enjoy it and be safe!

Thanks! Yes its definitely not that much of a downgrade and most of my mods swap right in.
I am only one kid in, no minivan for me yet!

Thats awesome! We tried fitting the car seat in the back of the 235i but it was super tight and a no go lol.

Thank you! I know I truly loved that car. They say the B58 is a lot more solid but the N54/N55 are magical engines and capable of a lot of power with minimal mods.

Thank you! Oh with the baby in the car I am all about safety. Living in Atlanta when I am with the family I drive cautiously that people often overtake me and show me the finger lol.
The 235 had the start/ stop feature as well but it would only engage in eco-mode. Luckily you can push the button to turn it off. I think its the same for this but I have only been driving it in Sport Mode lol.

With 2 in the mix, I`ve hemmed/hawed at this....but the MiniVan is the way to go at some point...

Even with our SUV, during the summer months, it`s a challenge between carseats, strollers, cooler, you name it.
And with the oldesn`t one coming up on 4 this summer, the little one and ME have started Old New Things.....
I got him a balance bike, and myself, I took my old roadie that I have not touched in years.....and I`m slowly getting back into the saddle.
Kinda crazed how your outlook changes with lil ones in the mix.

Sadly with the EPA chase game, all these tight steering beasts have gone the way the way of power assisted XYZ.
They drive like mush these days
Engine regen. battery tech, doesn`t fully charge a battery---and battery 101 is that they like to stay full.
The list goes one, but sadly the EPA has won

My wife has the family car. Our girls are finally old enough where they can handle doors, so minivan gone and Durango in.

When we first got our van, I traded in my GTI Vr6 to get it. Drove the wifes Subaru Forester (great car, never an issue and unstopable in any condition). Didn`t realize how much I missed having a sporty car when it was gone. I think it drove me to an early mid-life crisis, maybe it was a third life crisis. The way to solve the crisis was to get a new toy - Z3 M Roadster.

For me, the 3 series is the perfect mix of practical and sporty (I do prefer the way the e90`s drive vs. the new ones). The whole family can go for a ride (booster seats in the back), it is plenty sporty for me. And I have a manual trns (why can`t I get a 4 door all wheel drive stick shift BMW anymore!?!?!?!?), so only I can drive it !!

Really? I thought Subaru`s were pretty bulletproof. Bought it new in `99 traded it in with a 170,000 miles in 2012. Regular service stuff and always ran like a champ. Miss it because that was the car the girls washed while I worked on the M Roadster.
