I am a free market person, but this isn`t a free market we are talking about. They are price gouging based on that fact the they only large alternative has been pulled from the market and others cant get to market because of government regulations that require long difficult testing and approval processes (I understand its for our safety but my guess like everything else government touches it has gotten way out of hand). If the government makes a closed market then they need to regulate price gouging in that market or consumers will get abused.

Saw this on the news this morning......the CEO has raised her salary 671 percent.....scumbags

Man I hate hearing about stuff like this. I`ve been having to buy expensive asthma medication since I could remember and always hated the current system. I pay $300 every two months for my current medication. Hopefully the price will drop in the next year after the patent expires allowing other companies besides Astra Zeneca to manufacture generic versions.

I understand that money is needed to research and develop these drugs, but once they`re approved I think they should be made as cheap as possible. I don`t know how some of these people can sleep at night.

    Re: Epi-pens

The company wants to make as much profit as possible before something else hits the market. Every business is out to make money...that`s the main goal of a business. Yes, there are ethics involved in this case, however, it`s up to the CEO to set those standards within the company. I don`t see the CEO stepping in any time soon to help out these people in dire need. His salary has gone from 5 mil/yr up to 19 mil/yr!

    Re: Epi-pens

BTW...at the school I work at, we have to buy epi-pens for those kids who are allergic to certain things/foods. Everyone in the school is trained every year on how to use the pens correctly. So if every elementary in the U.S. has to do the same....you do the math. They care more about making money than saving lives.

Looks like Mylan has pulled some political strings and done some illegal and immoral things. Has there ever been a case where our government got involved and got a drug company to lower prices? I can`t remember hearing of one? It sounds like they may have avoided taxes, but nothing against the letter of the law, just found one of the many loopholes in the tax laws. I hope this case pushes hard against pharmaceutical companies and price gouging, but I doubt it. The rich get richer and the poor suffer for it.

"Medical Economic Euthanasia"? You really believe poor/middle class people should die because they did not choose to become greedy or by luck their parents were rich? That is a sick way of thinking. We should try to take care of our sick and unfortunate. I rarely criticize another persons opinion, because everyone`s opinion differs slightly, but "let the poor die, they deserve it" attitude just does not fly with me. I read what you wrote numerous times to make sure I was not misreading or misinterpreted what you were trying to say. Basically you are saying people without money have no worth and thusly should be put to death. Please tell me I misread your comments. If I did I apologize in advance.

I`m lucky enough to have asthma and a food allergy lol. Luckily I don`t have to have $150/month medicine
