I would not say they were like democrats except in the sense like Democrats that they were protecting the status quo. This is why we have no agreement on immigration reform despite having control of both House and Senate. They do not want to solve the issue - just prolong it for the next election cycle.

Yes. The legislative process is not democratic so bills may never be heard on floor if the leadership does not want it.

I always thought Newt Gingrich`s Contract with America was a great idea where a party promised to do certain specific things if elected in a short period of time (at least get up or down votes). Now, we just have visions by presidential without any guarantee on follow through. The bills could be written now so we see and know how every candidate would vote on them ahead of time.

It`s garbage like this from the right, and the left, that is tearing this country apart politically. I realize that Autopia has a forum that allows this but in my opinion Autopia would be better off without it. And for you doubters, if a different president would have been named I still would have done my homework and checked it for authenticity. Just because it`s on the internet doesn`t make it true.
