Went to a couple estate sales today and found some stuff.
The Hubley Real Types toy cars are very rare !
so you`re the guy who always buys the junk I put in our rummage sales that I really wanted to just throw in the dumpster but my wife made me put 25 cents on it? seriously, what would a person do with all of those cars and old radios? do you know something we don`t?
Couple more finds today
Cool the way those diecast cars have been played with, not trashed, but "patinated".
I remember the tube repair can!!!
I kinda think I have that Mercedes book by Jones...gotta remember to check next time I`m in the shop`s office.
This weeks finds
Surprising but the italian cassettes are selling from $30-$40 on discogs.com !
That snowmobile has *just* the right degree of patina IMO. You can tell it was played with, but it`s still awfully nice.
I think I have that Ministry record.
Nope. I have With Sympathy from 1983.
This is likely a regional thing on good yard/garage sales. In southwest Virginia, yard sales are as common as weeds growing with the same family having tables set up every week and there are hundreds of them. They are always picked over for anything good. From what I have seen, by 8 am or so, most anything gone is gone since they often start early.
Net, finding something is rare. The best way is to go to an estate auctions, almost as frequent, where stuff is at least offered to sale to all to the highest bidder.

Robb.- It`s *that* old? 40 years, huh? Makes the condition even more impressive to me.
Bunky- Yeah, estate auctions can be great, especially in areas where families were long-established. Sometimes it`s sorta sad though, the whole "nobody left who values this stuff" aspect of it. OTOH, when my father passed it was a good way to clear out the stuff that was (to me) always in the "what was he thinking..." category.
Found some stuff this week from oil can, to toys, to records, to a 3 head cassette deck.
Here`s pics
Quaker state oil can full
Unknown Toy Truck made in Japan.. i think it is a Marx ?
1960`s Siku German Citroen diecast toy car (very rare worth good money)
Cassettes - Paid 25 cents each for the sealed and $1 for the msytery walk
