<span style="font-size:18px;">But you`re not a professional detailer or do not have access to air tools or a buffer. This guide is for you.

<span style="font-size:14px;">Necessary tools
<ul>[*]<span style="font-size:14px;">1000, 2000, 3000 Grit WET Sandpaper[*]<span style="font-size:14px;">A small bucket to fill with water[*]<span style="font-size:14px;">Car soap[*]<span style="font-size:14px;">A few clean microfiber towel[*]<span style="font-size:14px;">All purpose cleaner, car wash, or equivalent[*]<span style="font-size:14px;">Meguiars Scratch-X or equivalent quality polish[*]<span style="font-size:14px;">Clean foam or microfiber applicators[/list]

<span style="font-size:14px;">All of the above can be purchased at any auto parts store or even better, Wal-Mart. You can also follow this guide using the 3m headlight restoration kit. It comes with all of the above and can be attached to a cordless drill making results better and your arm will be less tired.

<span style="font-size:18px;">Give the car a good wash and thoroughly clean the headlights

<span style="font-size:14px;">Step two


<span style="font-size:18px;">Tape off all surrounding areas to prevent scratching your car

<span style="font-size:14px;">Step three


<span style="font-size:18px;">Gently wet sand with 1000 grit. If you`re doing this by hand it is safer to just use 2000 first and move up from there.

<span style="font-size:14px;">Step four


<span style="font-size:18px;">Gently wet sand with 2000 grit

<span style="font-size:14px;">Step five


<span style="font-size:18px;">Again, gently wet sand with 3000 grit smoothing out the surface as much as possible.

<span style="font-size:14px;">Step Six


<span style="font-size:18px;">Polish the headlight with Scratch-X and a foam applicator. This process is time consuming by hand.

<span style="font-size:14px;">Step Seven


<span style="font-size:18px;">Protect and coat with your favorite wax or sealant. Coatings will last much longer, but a wax will work if applied often.
