PFM Towel + PA Rapidwaxx Rayview

Here they are! Griots Garage PFM Towels. The PFM stands for Pure F$%&ing Magic (I`m serious) and they`re available in two sizes. 25 x 35 inches and 16 x 16 inches. When we first received these towels, I didn`t really jump at the opportunity to try them out, but after hearing so much about them decided to put a 2 pack of the 16 x 16 towels on my growing Autopia tab (R.I.P. Christmas Bonus).

Here`s the packaging for the 2 pack of the 16 x 16 towels. The packaging and website didn`t mention anything about washing the towels before using, so everything in this review was performed with a brand new towel without a pre-wash.

I was in the mood to try something different this time around so I started with a full traditional wash. Then instead of lightly misting a spray wax or quick detailer to act as lubrication and drying aid, I sprayed a HEAVY coat of Polish Angel Rapidwaxx to the entire motorcycle. You can see the carnauba dripping off the bike.

For reference, there is a coat of Polish Angel Viking Coat I applied a few weeks ago which is why you notice beading. But with a heavy coat of Rapidwaxx, I was confident that enough wax stuck to the surface.

I allowed the spray wax to dwell for 4-5 minutes before I started to dry the bike.

The rear seat cowl would be the first test subject for this experimental wax application and drying method.

I saw a lot of different guys online demonstrate the PFM towels water absorption ability by simply dragging the towel across the paint and I wanted to try it out myself. I laid the towel across the cowl and pulled it away without applying any pressure.

I was impressed. The last time I had such high hopes for a drying towel I was left feeling scammed (shammed?) by an infomercial. The long-loop weaves on this PFM towel were actually doing what they`re supposed to after a single pass.

Technically, I did say "wow" every time.

The residue that you`re seeing is from the wax and I was glad to see it. Sometimes when I use a spray wax as a drying aid, I worry that the wax is too diluted on the surface and will add very little to no protection which prompted me to start this little experiment. Instead of spraying and immediately buffing the panel, I allowed the spray wax to dwell or dry to a haze.

Now I wanted to test if the same PFM towel could be used to buff away the spray wax residue. The long-loop weave design gives the towel some "bite" which I guessed would work great...

CONFIRMED. The PFM towel was able to remove the wax residue with very little pressure. The PFM towel even stays "magically" dry, so a second towel was never needed to dry my motorcycle.

I was left with a super slick, glossy, dry panel that I know has a solid layer of Polish Angel Rapidwaxx. The PFM towel seems to me like a match made in heaven when using a quick detailer or spray wax as a drying aid.

I ended up going around the entire bike and after every panel I was left with a smile on my face. The single 16 x 16 PFM towel was making it too easy.

When I`ve used other drying towels in the past, this area is prone to water spotting if ANY water is left behind since there are so many places for pools of water to hide. But the PFM towel acted like a water magnet and I never saw any pesky water drips.

The magical part of the PFM towel for me was how dry it stayed even after drying my entire motorcycle. Normally I would have to grab a fresh, dry drying towel to go back around and make sure any streaking is removed. But I never had to with this towel.

Overall I was impressed and may have found my new favorite maintenance method using spray wax and PFM towels.

I have heard of a couple complaints from users with this towel, but after troubleshooting we determined that very humid weather was causing the panels to streak (which would happen with any product or towel). Although overall, the PFM towels have been receiving great reviews and very positive feedback.

Since I`ve applied PA Rapidwaxx, I`ve received a lot more compliments on the gloss and shine of the bike too.

Thanks for reading! If you have any questions or comments let me know.

Looking good! Thanks for taking the potential hit on using the PFM towel right out of the bag/ with no pre-wash step first. I wouldn`t have been that brave

How do you care for your microfibers? Do normally wash them before first use?

How about drying? Air dry always or machine dry on low?

Awesome review Vega! Thanks for taking the time to do it.

I can never find the end of the rabbit hole, it truly is and endless search for the next best but I can assure you I`m done searching for a better drying towel...heck maybe done searching for a better towel period. I really like MM towels but there`s just something about these PFM`s

Normally I use cold/cold water and set the load size to larger than I`m actually washing (for more water) on low gentle spin. I always machine dry on low. I`ve never really had any problems but I imagine I go through MF towels at a higher rate than most people. I never hesitate to toss a towel or demote it to a "general use rag".

Thanks for reading and I agree. Just when I think a product or category can`t get any better...we get something like these PFM towels. I`m definitely adding these towels to my personal arsenal of towels.

very nice.. rich man`s wax as you dry. hahaha

loving my pfm towels (large ones folded up work just fine for me with RW drying but the smaller ones would be more convenient for sure)

you bring up a good point (or theory) on letting the wax dwell...good idea

Ya it worked out great. I never liked the idea of applying a wax and immediately wiping it off (WOWA waxes). I`ve always preferred letting them dry to a haze on the paint, so I just carried the theory over to spray waxes. And ya it is a pricey spray wax, but I just love the stuff. I`m almost out of my first spray bottle and I`m going to force myself to switch to something else. I can`t let myself get hooked. Detailing products can be addictive

These must be the towels you were telling me about Ray at Detail Fest. Might be time to add one to my cart and see how it stacks up against a Guzzler.

A guzzler is not even close. I usually use a xl guzzler and a smaller one for my truck. The PFM drying towel took care of the truck and barely felt damp.

I searched your posts and didn`t come up with anything. I used the term "guzzler" in my search.
