I wonder, with the way it was so different on foam and microfiber / wool pads, is with this being developed in Germany, most euro detailing shops use strictly foam pads and not micro fiber or wool. Do you think this could be the reason for its much better ability with the foam pads? (just a theory)
This is a great point and could likely be the case. It could also be a case of that particular application just not playing well with that particular paint. Ultimately there are a lot of factors (both static and dynamic) that will effect the way a polish works.

It, to my knowledge, is impossible to make something that performs perfectly all of the time on everything. While the lubrication of Menzerna certaintely make for smooth buffing, long work times, and little-to-no dusting, it did mat down the microfiber discs and cause them to run hot.

Good point as well. Guess the only way we will be able to find out is continued use on different paints / clear coats using all sorts of application combos.

    Darn....

Either way, this looks to be a fantastic product for us to have and something we should all keep ready to use!

This will be my first post on the forum although i joined awhile back . I`ve seen a couple showcase threads on the FG400 and it looked promising so i decided to pull the trigger and try it out. Although I`m new at detailing (sort of), FG400 seemed really easy to use and gave me outstanding results on my sister`s old black Avalon as a test car.
I should`ve took some 50/50 but even a single 3x3 pass resulted in 90% of the swirls gone and gave it a nice glossy finish. I didn`t experience marring at all besides one or two panels overall but it looks like i might pick up M105 soon as it does seem like the go to cutting compound.

Todd, enjoyed your great comparison article. Look forward to reading your additional comparisons of these 2 products on different paints. I am new to this and don`t have any powered tools but articles like this help to understand the art and using different tools and techniques. Thanks!
