    A Test For Poorboys.

This is more of a review/test than a detail. I was called to pick this up to prep it for a 1000 mile week long rally. This is an escorted no speed limit common sense event. The car will be going through the desert and all weather conditions. It will be out of my care while gone so it will be washed/dried and wiped on in not so ideal conditions. Hopefully no sandstorms.

The car was already clean from last year just dusty. There is some minor marring from last year but the goal is to protect and polish right now. It will need a full detail when it gets back. I plan on doing a review of the clean-up process when it gets back. There is some shrinkage in areas that will also need fixed.

    Products
    PB Bold & Bright
    PB Polish with Sealant
    PB EX-P
    PB Leather Stuff
    PB Ultra Plush MF
    Clay Magic fine clay bar
Megs Quick Detailer (for wipe down and clay lube)
    Sprayaway Glass cleaner
    coffee filters
    PC 7424 w/ White CCS

    Process
Tires-PB Bold & Bright -Tires were cleaned with a cotton cloth and a second pass with B&B and buffed semi flat after drying. I Like how this can be used without water and sheen can be adjusted.

Interior-PB Leather Stuff-vacuumed and all leather treated with a cotton cloth allowed to dry then buffed. Tihs product has a nice smell of leather and buffs to a nice neutral finish.

Megs Quick Detailer was used for a quick dusting with PB ultra plush. These IMO are the best micro fibers soft deep nap on one side. They trap dirt without marring. I use them during polishing, waxing, just about everything.

Megs and Clay Magic clay were used for claying after wipe down. Its affective and what I`m use to but open to other options..

PB Polish w/Sealant-1 pass applied with PC/primed White CCS speed 5, allowed to haze, buffed PB MF
PB Polish w/Sealant applied by hand like a wax, allowed to haze, buffed PB MF
I like the easy on easy off of this product either by hand or machine. With a primed pad it goes a long way. Smells good too.

PB-EXP applied by hand with light water misted sponge applicator allowed to haze, buffed w PB MF. This is another easy on easy off product. It seems to get wetter looking as it sits more.

Glass all cleaned with PB MF (short nap side) and Sprayaway glass cleaner. A final buff was done in and out with MR. Coffee coffee filters to catch any possible residue. A process I`ve used.

I chose Poorboys because I needed speed and layering. I don`t keep this type of car at the shop and usually do them on site. I wanted to get the car back asap.

    About the car
    1973 365 GTS "Daytona" Spyder
These cars are capable of 0-60 in 5.5 seconds very respectible in todays market even. A long nose, light tail, fixed rear axle make them very quick around the track. They are something to be respected in turns powering through. The unoffical "Daytona" name is reported to have been applied by the media rather than Ferrari itself. Commemorating Ferrari`s 1st 2nd 3rd place finish in the February 1967 24hrs at Daytona with the 330P4 models.

This is not a reproduction. I pay alot of money to be insured and appreciated the trust the owner gives me.

    Engine with six carbs.

    Some of the interior

    Outside very cloudy today

    Inside with product

I`m anxious to see how this holds up. This event is rough on paint.

I`d like to thank Steve for his suggestions on this. Great customer service.

I d`ont know how many Daytona Spyders are running around dressed in Poorboy but here is one.
One day I`ll get to do my own car.

Another one to look into is the Carolina Trophy it goes through the "Tail of the Dragon"(over 200 curves in 11 miles). I forget what the total mileage is at this moment. Good people, great rally.

    I`m sorry.
I had gotten swamped and forgot about this. I can say the vehicle went through 18 degrees to over 100 degrees. Speeds were well over 100mph at times. There were wipe downs daily. It had been taken for a quick wash before I got to it.
When I did a more thorough wash the beading was still there. The front which was subjected to the worst seemed ready for another coat. One thing I can say is the rear which gets layered in soot (tuned to run rich) was much easier to clean. I coated everything and where spots were missed from the prior wash/wipe downs, the residue came right off.
Over all I can say it did very well and did exactly what I was looking for. I use another sealant but it cannot be layered effectively. Wax also doesnt seem to layer well on it either. PB`s held up to the high speed bugs. The owner mentioned everything wiped right off without effort using speed shine.
    Thanks for the compliments.
