I could be way wrong but I`d really thought the idea was that a non bodyshop safe polish has ingredients that would interfere with any further painting.

The benefit of having a "paint safe" wax isn`t to protect a panel prior to being painted, but AFTER to provide protection from UVA, UVB, and other environmental factors that may or may not come into play during the curing process. I also "just make cars look good" so I may be wrong as well.

That is my take as well -- body shops donywant dust floating around and settling on freshly painted cars , or those being prepped for painting.

Bodyshops(not all I`m sure) do a good amount of polishing after painting/baking the paint. There is wetsanding and compound/polishing involved to remove dirt from clearcoat or other defects that could be taken care of with the previously mentioned approaches. The Shop I worked at had a little staging area where 2 vehicles could fit as soon as they got out of the oven, where one of the helpers or "finishers" would inspect the job and sand/cut/polish as necessary.

Yes you guys are pretty correct. The point of having body shop safe products is so nothing in the environment can potentially contaminate other vehicles that are being prepared for primer and or paint.

Being fresh paint safe means that it can be used after painting for a final polish with some protection. A lot of people specualte that you shouldn`t seal a freshly painted surface.

I for one do not believe it at all. My Camaro I had a 5k black repaint done on it. I received the car about 1.5wks after being painted. I did a light finishing polish and then sealed it with Collonite. Never had any issues with the surface.

The 505 is a bit pricey, so I`ll probably not be adding it until I use up my supply of Speed and McKees 360.
What product do you feel worked better the V4 or the SPEED?
