    Ultima Acrylic Spray Wax Review

Probably the last person who won the Ultima Spray Wax contest to do a review but here it finally is.
Test bed is a Silver Hyundai Sonata which I used the Klasse twins on by hand several months ago. Since then it`s gotten a few applications of Opti-Seal and Optimum Car Wax as drying aids during rinseless washes. Not sure exactly how many layers and what`s layered on what but most recently it was OCW. Car hasn`t been touched in a month and it sits outside during the day and garaged at night. So here goes:

First a little prelude and mini OCW review. I like to do a quick spray down with a regular garden hose just to knock off large debris and get as much dirt off as possible prior to the rinseless wash. This is just after the hose down:

Pretty impressive beading for a month of not being washed.

Washed with D114 then proceeded directly to spray wax application. Sorry no LSP stripping/polishing or IPA panel wipe.
    Obligatory product shot:

    Prevailing weather conditions:

Yea I`m an official Autopia Wax Waster. I like to use spray waxes/sealants in excess. I generally ignore the "less is more" mantra. Pretty much spray as much as one would use a quick detailer.

However, thankfully this stuff is easy to work with. No streaking. I don`t even use the two towel method. I spread with one side and buff with the drier side of a towel.

This product is slightly thicker than water, milky white, and clings pretty well to vertical panels. No discernible smell, which I`m really starting to appreciate. Rupes P808 is another spray sealant that has almost no scent.

Again really heavy application, one towel, multiple panels. Towel is pretty much saturated before I switch to another towel:

    Again no streaks!

Trim test. Sprayed willy nilly all over everything with blatant disregard. Paint, plastic, glass it all gets covered.

Not sure if this was the spray wax staining the trim or some residual water spots but in general I wouldn`t say it stains trim. In fact it gives the plastic trim a nice lightly dressed look.

    Lookin good to me:

The true test for me is glass. On glass I used sparingly and buffed until product is gone. Second clean towel not needed:

Some lint from my Chinchilla towels but no streaks

Yea I used a lot for one application. I dunno maybe 3-5 oz of a 22 oz bottle.

Crystal clean application on the side mirror and parting shot:

In summary, a very nice product. Very easy to work with. No streaking when used in excess at least in the conditions I used it in. Slickness and gloss are on par with OCW. Streaking and dust magnetism are two major gripes I have with OCW so I`m very interested in seeing how Ultima Acrylic Spray Wax behaves in terms of dust accumulation. Water beading wise, well it hardly rains here anymore so probably won`t be able to comment on that. Durability of a spray wax/sealant isn`t too much of a concern to me since I use one after almost every wash. If anyone is dying to see it compared to OCW I can do half the hood with both next time.

Thanks for reading and thanks to Autopia and Ultima for the chance to review!

    Great review. Car looks great.
Formerly the "Best Detailer", now just Super Wax Waster Man. Not necessarily tactful, but normally right. It`s good to be da King !!!

    Ultima Acrylic Spray Wax Review

Just a little quick update. I am very impressed with this stuff. The car hasn`t been washed in over a month and it sits outside everyday at work. Just rained today and the self cleaning properties are quite good and what`s more impressive is that it still feels pretty slick. In comparison I just applied Wolfgang Sealant Spritz a few days ago on my car and the slickness is all but gone. For the price, Ultima Spray Wax is a no brainer. In a gallon size it will be the new D156.

So where does that leave your apocalyptic stash of WGDGSS?

How would you compare it to Aquawax if you have used that?

Re: Ultima Acrylic Spray Wax Review

WGDGSS is for my car. I like the ease of use, appearance, and dust repellency. I apply it after every wash so durability isn`t a main concern. The wife`s car gets a bit neglected so I reach for more durable maintenance LSPs.
I haven`t used Aquawax in years but I remember it smelled good and was really easy to wipe streak free.
