If you get enough people in for a batch, I`ll take 2 gallons.

    Review Poorboy`s Foam Soap (Beta)

    Nice review.

Would like to see this compared to CGs Honeydew, which IMHO rules this class of products.

Cucumber Mellon would be a great scent.

would you say this stacks up favorably against Megs Gold Class...with the exception of the scent? (which is really not important to me)

I dig the grape scent and color. Everyone seems to go with blue, red.

I say better that Gold Class. Gold Class is thicker than this so I will give it that. The only issue I have with Gold Class is that it has gloss enhancers. They can sometimes alter the surface. Although they don`t last that long on the surface. But I have experienced this. Same with D111 Shampoo Plus. I prefer my soaps to not leave anything behind. As far as I could tell the Poorboy`s soap didn`t leave anything behind. But Steve or Dwayne have to let us know for sure.

I`m in the camp of leave nothing behind. With all of the coatings on the market I just want something with great lubricity to aid in dirt removal and help me not add any scratches. If I want more shine I`ll hit my car with a QD. How about a watermelon scent?

Re: Review Poorboy`s Foam Soap (Beta)

Really like the videos in your review, helped get a better impression of the product.

Would you say there`s any significant difference between foam gun specific soap and the non-foam gun specific soap (as you used it in the bucket and have experience with lots of popular soaps)? I get that each soap is different in it`s own right but still I`ve been able to use every soap in my foam gun, foam lance, and/or bucket without issue or compromise.

Things I would look for in a foam gun/lance specific soap:
    • Higher than 400:1 dilution ratio. As concentration is key for nice foam.
    • Cleaning power. It should clean better than a regular car soap without agitation.
    • Foam dwell time. It should be more clingy than regular soaps at the same dilution ratio.
    • Slow to dry in the sun. Some soaps I`ve used dry very quickly on the paint when in the sun while others dont.

    Thanks for the review

Thanks. I haven`t noticed too much of a difference. Some soaps are more concentrated than others. Thus using less ounces of product. The thickness of the soap also plays a factor, at least in my opinion. I find thicker soaps to foam nicer than something that is a bit thinner.

For example Poorboys foamed up better than Meguiar`s Mirror Bright. Mirror Bright is on the thin side and requires more product in the foam gun.

DP Xtreme Foam Soap is an example. It`s intended to be a foam shampoo for a foam gun but it also works fine as a stand alone wash.

Meguiar`s Gold Class is a typical car wash and it performs pretty well in both a foam gun and foam cannon when I messed around with it.

So I haven`t noticed too much of a difference other than thinner soaps not generating the best" foam in a foam gun.

But it seemed to be around this ration in the bucket as I used the remaining 1.5 oz`s in 3-4 gallons of water. I believe 1 oz would have been sufficient.
    • Cleaning power. It should clean better than a regular car soap without agitation. - I can`t answer this since I rinse the car off before foaming it with any soap in either a foam gun or foam cannon.
    • Foam dwell time. It should be more clingy than regular soaps at the same dilution ratio. - This one clinged to the surface rather well even in a foam gun. I imagine it would be much better in a foam cannon.
    • Slow to dry in the sun. Some soaps I`ve used dry very quickly on the paint when in the sun while others dont. - Good thing you brought this up. I washed it in the sun and the sun was beating down on one side of the car. It was rather hot on the glass so it did dry out rather quickly. I went over that area again to reactivate the soap just in case so I would not have any issues later. This is one of the reasons I use Adams Car Shampoo as it was designed to be ok if it dried on the surface.

    Thanks for the review
I think this Poorboy`s foam soap has a great product and is heading in the right direction as being a good soap for either option.
