Just out of curiosity, what`s the advantage to using a "towel cleaner" as opposed to a mainstream laundry detergent like Tide? Are the surfactants in the soap really that different or more effective? IMHO, wouldn`t using a milder soap meant for clothing be advantageous in keeping the fibers soft and scratch free, as opposed to a more "caustic" formula soap?
I use towel kleen pretty much exclusively for my MFs and even my regular bath towels. I also have the kirkland unscented, hypoallergenic laundry detergent that works well. Id have to do a comparison of the two but I find towel kleen gets my microfibers pretty clean or close to new even on the soiled interior/ engine MFs.
Mary B - haven`t noticed the crunchy issue after using Towel Kleen. How much do you use? Do you put the towels through an additional rinse cycle? I usually do a final rinse cycle to ensure no residue is left on the towels and once they dry they are usually very soft.
Towel Kleen is supposed to be low foaming and has no softeners etc.
I thought with conventional laundry detergents like Tide if they have softeners/ polymers in them it can interfere with the properties of the MFs? Any noticed that using Tide or similar product to wash?
This seems to explain the chemicals in Tide in a way I can understand lol - Laundrypedia; Detergent Ingredients | Innovation - Tide
Looks like it has some amount of Hydrogen Peroxide in it as well.
I am sure someone with a better understanding of Chemistry would be able to chime in on the differences. lol
