the only time the pad gets soft is when you run cold water on it. i know because thats what i heard through the detailing grapevine but...NOT 100% true. sure the pad is soft, till you spin it out to remove excess water, then the pad is stiff/dry again. move onto apply some polish to get back on the car & back at square one.

i loved to follow your work when you were Todd Helme...bring him back to the detailing world please. i still love ya buddy but i dont like the grey pad. im 100% positive, everyone will agree with me after using the pad. STIFF like CARDBOARD all of the time.
Correct, the entire pad should never get soft, just the face (first 2-3 mm) of the pad. We all have different preferences and what ever feels most comfortable will yield the best results for you. However, by using a different foam, you are likely leaving some perform on the table.

The UHS System has been selling like crazy and the overwhelming feedback has been super positive. We are excited by the performance and response to this combination.

Good to see you back Todd. I don`t really NEED it now (it`s too darned cold up here to do any real detailing without a heated facility), so I`ll wait a month or two before ordering.

Can someone point me to the Rupes washer mod by Kevin Brown? I am tired of searching for it and coming up cold. Many thanks.

The video says to use a 5/16" washer. That was too big in diameter for my Rupes 15 so I used a 1/4" washer and ground down the sides and it fits perfect. Even after trimming the 5/16" the OD of the non trimmed side still won`t fit in the backing plate hole.
