    Hi everyone,

What a great forum and site! I`ve found almost everthing I need, but I still have one question. Like a doofus, I allowed my dealer to detail my 2002 Topaz M3 upon delivery, and they swirled and put some surface scratches on it (not sure it was all them, could have been the BMW delivery center at the port). But anyway, I`ve got the full Zaino kit on order.

Will the Z5 be enough to get this stuff out, or do I need to put it through a more abrasive treatment first (3M SMR, etc.)? The scratches are not bad and neither are the swirls.

I know about the Dawn/Clay/Z7 etc. from all your help on the board, just wondering what to do about the imperfections.

Thanks for all the advice and help.

Stick with the Z5 at first. See how it looks after a few layers of Z5. The Z5 won`t remove the imperfections, but it does a pretty decent job of hiding them. If you`re not satisfied, then maybe try something fairly mild, like Meguiar`s #9 2.0, which has worked well for me.

First off Welcome to the Forum.

It is really gonna depend on the severity of the scratches.

I do not think Zaino is the cure all for all swirls. Have you washed of the oils and fillers from the gook they applied? It may be worse then it seems.

You need to inspect it carefully and make a judgement call on what route to go. If they are light swirls that can only be seen in certain lighting then give the Z5 a try but otherwise I think you will end up needing an abrasive.

Good luck and post a pic of your swirls and ride!

Thanks for the info. Guess--I`m in Atlanta and we`re under a water ban, so I`ve bought a set of halogen work lights and I`m going to give it a Dawn wash this weekend at 10pm!

I`ll get some before and after pics and you folks can check out the situation a little better!

    Thanks again.

Pic`s from the Amelia Island Concours

This year I had the pleasure of taking my family to Amelia Island for the concours event. I had two cars that competed, both winning best in class, which was very cool. More importantly I ran into a bunch of clients, friends, and enjoyed the with my family while looking at my favorite cars of all time: Duesenbergs. With out further ado, here are some of the pics I took.

Dale Earnhardt`s Monte Carlo Stock car (back when it was Winston Cup and the car`s where different).

One of my favorites from the show, a Tucker Torpedo. Those who don`t know the story of this car and the man behind it should head to google.

    Ferrari 400 Super America

    Ferrari GT cab

    Ferrari 212 Vignale

    Type 57 Bugatti`s

    1947 Rolls Royce

    A couple of Duesenbergs

My wife and enjoying the cool (by Florida standards) morning infront of a one-off brand.

    Another Duesy

My son infront of a 1903 Cadillac. Big pimping on 26`s?

    Duesenberg Indy car

    300SL Gullwing

This is the most beautiful bike I have ever seen, a 1937 BMW R7

And some more Duesenbergs to finish off the show.

And finally the amazing engine compartment of the Duesenberg SSJ Supercharged. This engine, in the 1930`s produced 320 horsepower!!!! At a time when most car`s made less than 40 horsepower and a HOTROD Ford V8 was less than 100 horsepower, this car trumped all. It also had a top seed over 150 miles per hour, when the average car of the time might hit 70. It was the Bugatti Veryon of it`s time.

Here is the outside of this amazing piece of art (I believe it won best in show)

    Thanks for looking

Very nice showing! While we have some decent cars up here, we certainly have nothing to that extent!

Those were some beautiful cars!:drool5: There is just nothing like that here in the North East. Looks like your family had a great time.

    Wow! Thanks for sharing Todd!

Your boy looks just like you! All he needs now is a cool French hat. :soldier:

That R7 is very bad a$$! It looks to be way ahead of it`s time and the styling is almost sport bike like. It`s also interesting that BMW didn`t make a stink about Yamaha using the R7 name for their bike when it came out....
