Hey guys, my car had developed a water leak and now it smells like mildew. I need to rid it of this god-awful smell ASAP. Any ideas on how I can do this using over the counter products? I don`t have time to order anything online. It needs to be done tomorrow. I remember reading something about baking soda a couple of years ago.

Any and all help would be very much appreciated. I realize this topic has been posted before, but unlike the others I need to do this with over-the-counter products tomorrow!

just get a few boxes of baking soda. generic brand is fine. not knowing where the leak is ill give general advice. place an open box under the seats and in the trunk. sprinkle it around. keep replacing them until the smell goes away. try and find out where the water source is and what is mildewing. try to remove what is mildewing ie carpet, door panels, seats, trunk carpet and liners. if they can be cleaned, the mildew removed sit them out in the sun to kill off the source. try and use a wet dry vacuum if u can or just use a vacuum at the car wash. they will suction wet and dry material.

Try to find a carpet sanitizer chemical. You should kill the bacteria before cleaning. Try a carpet cleaning supplier or phone a carpet cleaner and buy a little.
