Protecting Piano Black B-Pillars

Hello I recently purchased a 17 Ford Focus RS and the window B pillar trim is a high gloss piano black plastic. My question is whether I should be applying trim sealant or paint sealant to protect these areas. I already own BFWD and Wolfgang trim sealant. So which do I use, or does it even matter? Thanks in advance.

Wrap them in one of the self-healing PPF`s like Xpel, Sentek, or 3M Performance Film.

but GYEON trim says you can use it on piano black to coat it

I drive a 2015 Golf R which also has piano-black B-pillars. The car is Opti-Coated and the B-pillars are flawless. I have always hand-washed the car myself and wax it occasionally using Collinite 845, and that`s all the protection the car and the B-illars have needed.

I wouldn`t bother adding a PPF unless you take your car through the local wash-and-scratch. If you find that you do wind up with minor scratches due to environmental factors like keeping the car outdoors, they are easy to polish out -- I`ve done that for a friend who also drives a 2015 Golf R.

You can also use CarPro DLux on those pillars if you want a little more protection than the sealant offers.

after correcting i coated it with Cquartz UK Edition and its been about 1 year and a half and still looks great. light micro mars but because my wife forgot to tell audi not to wash it after it got serviced.

IMO the wrap is best, the coating is 2nd, and the better-than-nothing is what I do on the Audis (and any other gloss-black exterior plastics)- many layers of KSG (only LSP that`s ever offered marring-resistance IME).

If wrapping were more Accumulator-proof I`d be doing it to all sorts of areas that`re likely to get messed up. OR if I trusted anybody local to PPF my stuff (which I don`t).

I believe the wrap is the best option here, simply because that area scratches so easily... Yes it is easy to polish out but if you get a wrap on there you will keep the paint in excellent condition without needing to polish that area every year.

Clear PPF wrap like Xpel Ultimate, which self-heals. The B-Pillar is one of the most commonly grabbed areas to shut doors by "non-Autopians", so they get marred up easily. With PPF it protects the paint and any light marring will self-heal, keeping them looking like new for a long time.

And note that many such areas aren`t really painted these days, but rather just have that finish as how they`re made or are even covered with a kind of *factory* wrap. Result is that you can`t always just polish out marring lest you strike through the "shiny black finish" that meets they eye.
