    Any Good You Tube Detailers?

Do you guys have any favorite You Tubers who post decent instructional videos on You Tube? I don`t need the basics - I`m good there - but I`m always looking to learn more and there are just so many videos out there when you search on the word "detailing". Preferably from guys that are not trying to sell thier own products. I don`t need review videos on the 18 different types of soap you sell.

I`ve checked out alot of videos from the "Junkman". Some are definetly better than others....

I recently stumbled up the vids posted by the guy from AMMO. I feel they are excellent. I`m looking for more vids along the lines of what he posts.

    Thanks!!
    Dan

Larry at AMMO puts out some good videos. I don`t use his products, but his technique is good. He can be long winded, but he has the knowledge.

I normally look at specific products I am interested in then on how to use/apply them.
Formerly the "Best Detailer", now just Super Wax Waster Man. Not necessarily tactful, but normally right. It`s good to be da King !!!

I check out Larry`s videos as well as:

Darren Priest with Auto Fetish : Some of his videos can be lengthy like Larry`s but he`s got solid no BS info, not only about products, but techniques and overall business aspects.

Junkman - haven`t seen many of his videos but he offers good info as well .

Garry Dean - many folks don`t like him for numerous reasons based on what I`ve read and whatnot but I do and also follow his channel. He also provides good info and tips.

Larry and Garry both have their own brands of products, so just a heads up that you may hear about them during some of their videos. Not that I find it inappropriate (they`re businessmen and why not use their own products right?) , but just giving you a "heads up" in case that`s a deal breaker .

I`ve learned something from watching all of the above mentioned channels , some are great videos, some are longer than they should be, so just check them out and see what they offer.

I check Auto Fetish and AMMO, the only thing I don`t care for, is when they show how they do touch up paint work, of course I also understand that those demonstrations are working under time constrictions ($$$), therefore impossible do much better than that without a huge surge in price to their clients.... so it is understandable, I just wouldn`t do what they advise when it comes to touching up large scratches and things... I cannot live with those results. lol

I like AF a bit more than AMMO when it comes to product advice, since he is straight no rainbows and butterflies, just use what works as reasonable cost as possible. While AMMO goes a little back and forth about product, good product advice, but I don`t like the feeling where I can`t do an equivalent or better job with what I have. Both talks a lot, and love their work. I enjoy watching their vids, and have learned a great deal from them when combining their knowledge/tutorials and my experience. Their vids along with Mike Phillips videos got me some paid jobs and happy clients lol

I`m the guy who makes those videos so I gotta say thanks to Vega for the recognition!

And I definitely lurk AG in the shadows just to see how things go, (I never actually post) but man-oh-man when somebody mentions TRC....hahaha.

I have been a huge fan of Detalks.... some great representatives of our industry and some honest knowledgeable info.
I like Larry with ammo... and Darren with auto fetish... more for his business honest than his detailing info..

Re: Any Good You Tube Detailers?

Thanks! We love making DeTalks and some of the best info seems to come from that comfortable, conversational "podcast"-like format. It`s also 100% un-scripted, so when we start an episode, we really have no idea where it will go or how it will end. Our only real rule is keeping things under 20 minutes per episode.

We`ve definitely got plans to expand it a lot, too: We`ll be including more people in the industry, as well as folks in businesses that are tangentially-related to detailing in some way who can offer some insight from their end as well. We want to make DeTalks a big enough deal that some of the industry-giants` fanbases start demanding that they come and chat on it! (So if you`re a fan of somebody in particular, please feel free to tell`em about it)

With any luck, people are sharing it enough with others that things just snowball. Obviously, though, need all the help we can get to get it in front of as many eyeballs as possible.

I`m also a fan of watching tons of Larry`s AMMO videos & Matt`s Obsessed Garage for their absolute precision & care. While Junkman has his very particular style of doing things, he regularly visits us now and just loves hanging out, haha. Darren is also a great watch for all of his business advice in particular.

Garry did come immediately to mind, at least with regard to washing with a rinseless.

While I do chuckle a bit about his self-promotion and, uhm...general online demeanor, and we don`t agree about everything, IME Garry is a 100% stand-up guy and I esteem him highly.

i watch as much as I can. Sometimes, I don`t make it to the end of certain videos.

I`ve seen those mentioned above, and I also enjoy stuff from Forensic Detailing Channel.

Forensic Detailing Channel is excellent because he really tries to test claims realistically.

His reviews are often on the "long" side, but there`s never a shortage of information with him! (Which is something I always appreciate)

Re: Any Good You Tube Detailers?

I tried to get through some of the Forensic Detailing Channel videos, I couldn`t. He needs a script and a new t-shirt. Lol. The DeTalks are about the right amount of time, but a little lacking on specific information. Anyone that has been on tv or given a class over video knows it`s difficult (impossible) to gauge audience reaction when you can`t see the audience. Scripting is not a bad thing. It allows you to stay on point and not ramble. I used to give computer classes by way of video instruction and I didn`t know if my class was even awake. I do know you will improve with practice.
