Sno-Seal

Anyone ever try this on a vehicle? Its mostly bees wax. I put some of it on 2 areas on the front of my new vehicle. Waxed the whole vehicle with Mothers Carnuba and then put the Sno-Seal over it. I`llk see how it holds up.

Yuck, that`s some slimy stuff. I use it on one pair of winter boots...OK for that, but I`d never let it touch anything else.

Actually it works just like any other wax. It took a bit more effort, that`s about it.

I recommend using a dedicated sealant. FK 1000p is hard to beat. Or any of the other quality sealants from Autopia or AG.

Sno-Seal is designed for making leather shoes and boots water-resistant. Its base emollients (IE, the chemicals used to keep the wax soft and in a somewhat liquid suspension) are not paint or clear-coat "friendly".

Want an automotive-equivalent to Sno-Seal? Go to a marine or boating supply store and ask if they have Collinite 885 Fleet Wax. It`s the marine identical-twin to their automotive 476s Double Detergent-Proof Wax. It`s a wax-on-wax-off application, shines like crazy, lasts for many months (which is why many use it as a wax to last through the winter months), has tight water-beading characteristics (if you are into that sort of hydroscopic feature), AND it`s not that expensive. I think it retails over-the-counter at most marine outlets for about $27.00 to $35.00 per a 12 oz tin that will last you at least 20 applications, even on larger vehicles like trucks or full-size SUVs.

If you want a beeswax-containing automotive wax, go to a Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership and ask for S100 Carnauba Paste Wax.. Very easy to apply. Looks great on dark-colored vehicles, has great water beading characteristics, but it will only last about 4-6 weeks before it needs to be re-applied to rejuvenate its reflective look and water-beading. It think that retails cover-the-counter for about $20.00 to $25.00 at most HD dealerships.

IME a tin of 476S (let alone the huge tin of 885) oughta last maybe 200 applications on Suburban-size vehicles
