I know this type of thread has been done before, but it`s always useful to hear some new things to help us detailers out. Anything to speed up the process will help. A few of mine are as follows:

Before wiping door jams I mist them w/ Megs Final Touch (helps clean and leaves them slick and shiney)

When removing Rain-X I mist the glass w/ distilled water to help make the glass easier to clean resulting in a crystal clear windshield.

Using a microfiber mitt to apply my dressings. I just started doing this last week, and it really helps control the application and speeds it up too. I really benefit from be able to use you thumb on edges of trim so you don`t get it on the paint.

    Any others?

Hopefully this thread will grow more and more each day to help each of us out.

    Thanks!

These are the type of things you learn as you go.

I dont really have any time saving tips, these things take me as long as they take me.

My customers dont mind that sometimes it takes longer than expected.

Same here. I take a few more minutes than most detailers but they do not mind since I`m saving them time by me coming to them. You will learn how to multi task and get quicker too. I did my first total detail and it took me 6hours on a Bug. Now, I did that same car and the same process only took me 3 hours!

I`m not trying to hurry through any of my jobs, but I would like to become quicker and more efficient. What are some of the things you`ve learned to cut you detailing time in half? Thanks!

Mist on some QD as you are drying. Seems to dry quicker, leaves more shine and helps prevent water spots.

    There are so many....

I like to apply 303 to the outside trim before washing (only if the car is fairly clean). It lets me be very generous with the protectant and any overage is washed off when you wash the car.

I spray the wheel wells with APC before I even get started and let it soak.

Use the sheeting method as the final rinse.

Use a silicone squeegee on the windows before drying the car (most water still clings to the windows with the sheeting method).

Thanks! I`ve never tried the 303 before washing. How does 303 compare to Megs All Season or Megs Hyper Dressing? It doesn`t wash off the trim?

Doesn`t seem to. I`ve tried it with #40 and gotten some spotting indicating there was some removal of that. Avoid 303 on glass at all costs though!

Another tip while I`m thinking about it, foget the rainx and use AW!

Aquawax on the windows instead of Rain-X?

I was a die hard RainX user for over 10 years. Now I just use AW, way easier and lasts as long if not longer for me.
