I was never a fan of his stand-up/latenight (he belabors his punchlines too much for me, as if afraid the audience won`t get it right away), but I don`t think anybody can question that he`s a great auto enthusiast. I just think he might oughta have his vehicles in impeccable condition cosmetically if he`s gonna brand-name detailing stuff.

I see Grease Monkey is also getting in on the branding of detailing products.

Wasn`t Boyd Cottington`s first go-around of detailing products a failed attempt that ended up at close-out discounter Big Lots?? The liquid wax wasn`t half bad!

That is what shocked me a bit about Jay(introducing his own line). I have seen (probably most) of Jay`s car segments on YouTube and there is a healthy number of his cars that have visible swirls. Although his are certainly better kept than most.

Badge engineering, like a Pinto and a Bobcat, and as exciting. Meh. If someone picks these up and they perform better than Turtle Wax or Eagle One, then no harm done.

Wonder if these are just Adam`s products with the colors changed, or actually all new products? I like Adam`s Buttery wax, their QD`s pretty good and I`ve heard a lot of positive things about their Super VRT. If I had to guess I wouldn`t think these were new/re-formulations but I really don`t know.

Well AG is selling Lenos` stuff on their site. Maybe now we can figure out if it is made by Adams or not.

    Re: Jay Leno

I have read multiple places that it`s adams based stuff. The older Adams soap was red now Leno has red out and adams just did a "limited" run of the old soap recently.

Adams products are not junk so at least he made a partnership with a company that makes solid products and loves the USA based idea.

might check a few things out to compare depending on price since I have most of Adams lineup on a shelf somewhere. The similarities are very obvious to me

The drying towel Jay Leno looks to be this one DI Microfiber Terry Weave Towel - 25" x 36" | Free Shipping Available - Detailed Image

You could also say the tire and trim stuff looks like adam`s vrt and his soap looks like adam`s red soap, they even have the same bottles, but I mean how many different ways/colors can you make these products. At least the prices seem pretty decent.

All I can say there must be a lot of profit in the detailing chemical business given that number of brands available.

i think it`s all just name recognition really. Boyd`s, leno`s, and Barrett Jackson could all be the same stuff but there will be different people that buy each just for the name and what it means to them. While the forums are fun for the people who visit them, there are thousands of people who buy detailing products who don`t participate at all online.

    Re: Jay Leno

There a plenty of private labels that have no celebrity association. You have many detailers who have lines. They each want to put their interpretation just as there are millions of chocolate chip recipes. Some add a new twist to something. I saw one guy at a car show with his own line that looked like CG relabeled products. I agree there are many people who buy detailing products and the secret is just connecting with them. If you ask some they will say "brand x whatever" is the best product when in fact they have not used 99% of what is available to know what is actually best but best is a personal opinion and not a fact.
