Question Bf tire & trim sealant

    This.....
BLACKFIRE Total Trim & Tire Sealant

I dunno? Wanted to try it out on some side moulding today on the xterra. It was like putting nothing on. Did not restore or change the color in anyway! WEIRD. Glad i won this and did not pay for it. Grabbed the CG trim gel and finished it. Cant see what i did wrong. This is the first BF product that failed for me. WGTS blew this out of the water in every respect.

It does sound weird. The product is very watery and has to be rubbed in a little. It is not a thick gel that just coats the surface. I wonder if you got a bad batch.

I posted over on your AGO thread and I also have a review on here about how the product turned gummy as I was applying it to a clean surface. It looked like eraser shavings on my applicator. It`s done this to me each time I`ve used it.

Re: Bf tire & trim sealant

I have had very mixed luck with it. Works great on some plastics and not very well on other. Seems to me to work better the harder and more true plastic the surface is(not dyed or the plastics with that rubberized or painted surface on them), on tires it does almost nothing and takes a lot of product. I also had same gumming up problem as Guz had and it seems to be the further you get into the application time, like maybe the stuff is starting to dry and harden getting gummy on the pad(maybe need multiple pads for one car?). May be better to apply with micro suede applicators like a paint coating so you dont waste product getting absorbed into the applicator. I have found it to also attract a ton of dust till you scrub it good during the first wash, after that it does looks very good and seems to bead water very well and I did my truck in the spring and my plastics are still beading well and still clean very easy. Finicky going on and needs a good scrub at first wash but it does work well. I think next I will try WETS and see if that works well and is easy to work with.

Re: Bf tire & trim sealant

    UPDATE:
Thought i would give it a second look today. This stuff reminds me of wax in a way. The foam applicator is useless for this product. So i broke out a MF towel instead. Much better results! But you still really have to work in this product. Wipe out any uneveness with the MF. I was greeted with decent looking trim on the xterra again. Just the right amount of sheen. But man it was labor intensive! Too much trim on the xterra! Even did the cowl. I will report back on how it holds up. But for my money WETS is so much eaiser to apply, and lasts several months.

UPDATE. After first wash, it looks really good. No runs or drips. Trim beads.
