    Minor body damage input needed

    Greetings Team,

Car was bumped over the weekend and it seems like some sratches and some that get caught in the finger nail. The insurance person said wet sanding and buffing should get almost all of it out but will need repainted. What do you think ? I would really prefer to fix myself even if its not 100% without being repainted its better than what it is now. Especially since i am sure this bumper will see alot more damage in years to come. We are keeping this car a LONG TIME. and will be out city commuter car.

I have never wet sanded before but can research and get the right products if that is what it takes.

    Thanks for your input

Given the circumstances I think I`d just correct it as best I could and live with it. I dunno....if you`re gonna wetsand it I`d give a little thought to applying some touchup clear *first*. I often don`t do that and then, in hindsight, wish I had; I`ve never *done it* and then looked back and wished I hadn`t.

Good news is that it`s white, it`s not an obvious spot, it isn`t worse, and you`re realistic about how the car will be used. Either DIY a 80% fix or have it removed, refinished, and reinstalled by a very good shop. Eh, I`d wait and have that done in a few years after you`ve lived with it for a while (and after it`s suffered through more real-life wear and tear).

Good idea. for now i might just do the following... I live in an APT complex so no power tools until spring when I can get to a garage.

    wash
    clay
    hand compound
    hand polish
    wash - dry
    then wax

Until i can break out my electric buffer in the spring i think this will look good enough... what do you think ... or wait until i can use a buffer ?

I`d do that now and try to not think about it until spring.
