Ran into my first tightwad today.

The guy wanted me to give him a price on doing his 22ft barge.

I show up and he isnot there but his neighbor is.He went to pick up his dog.She says that is the barge ,I asked the one in the ball open sun.She says yep.
I go over to it and YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!! It was freaking disgusting. And what kinda carpet is this.It looked like carpet you would see in a house. It was origanly tan color ,but the brown stains had that covered up.The seats are terrible, and they are all baking in the sun.She said he has a shed but won`t put it under it.The seats are on the verge of totally cracking.
I walk back up to the house and before I could get anything out ,she said ,he told me to tell u that if it was over 100 dollars then never mind.
All I could do is laugh.:w00t:

I said this is a eight hour job,and tell him I don`t work for 8 dollars an hour not counting all the product that would have to be used.
Spend 15000 on something like that and then leave it out in the sun to toally destroy it.
I did tell her to let him know by the end of the summer that all the vinyl
seats would be no gud,if something isn`t done now.

    Good Lord!!

It seems like all my customers are cheapskates!!!

"Wash & wax it, but don`t polish it... costs too much."

"I don`t care what the outside looks like, just clean the interior."

"What ever is the cheapest, do it that way."

    A 22` barge for $100????!!!!!

Tell him you`ll give him 100 dollars worth and then go home!

    P.S. Cheapskates are everywhere.

Haha... yeah, I`ve had customers tell me how much they want to spend, and I`ll tell them what I can do for that amount. If the price gets too low, I`ll just say... "For that amount, I can wash your car!"

    Update on tightwad

He called me back, and told me he would pay my price.I think he was thinking that I was gonna call him back and agree to a lower price.
So I finished up saturday morning.Started on it friday evening about 6:30

Could not do his carpet though. What I thought was dirt turned out to be mildew .Like I said this looked like carpet u would see in a house.I`m sure its a little different but it still was eat up with mildew.I told him I didnot have or know of anything that would get that out ,so I cut my price back

While I was working on it friday ,a guy stopped by and ask me if I could look at his 38 ft. rv,and give him a price on washing it.That thing has 4 slide outs on it.I`m gonna call him today and give him a price.I`m sure its gonna be a pain in the tail, but I like getting the experience.

    Later ya`ll

Man, I had a lady ask my price, told her I was still building up inventory and since I hadnt officially started doing peoples cars I could use my interior stuff and charge her 70, she looked at me like it was alot for her huge SUV and said. Okay, so 70 for the whole thing? I was like What! the whole thing?! She wanted me to wash, wax, and get out small scratches, and completely do the interior for 70 bucks and acted like that was alot! I just said nevermind let me know when your interested and we can work something out!

When I tell people in the "Corvette" crowd, that I charge $45 per hour, they usually say, "Is that all? That`s cheap!"

When you tell the same price to the soccer mom, she`ll say, "Can you do it in 30 minutes ?"

My mom was like that until she saw all the work that you have to put into the car and now she gets mad when people want it cheaper And ive transformed my father into a swirlfinding machine!

Went to a really small car show and while walking around I talked to a few of the car owners to bring in a few customers and he would go "oh no, hey John look they have lots of swirls" it was so hard not to laugh and then when we would walk away the guy would run to his car and start trying to find what he was talking about! Its great!

But on your comment...I really have seen that the old muscle car guys with garage queens are usually more okay with the price.
