black spots on boats seats not coming off

we dont do a lot of boats around here, but when recently asked to try a test spot on a newer pontoon, I didn`t get the results I was hoping for. all of the seats have the little black dots from mold or mildew. its been on them a while. I`ve seen this countless times of course, but this time nothing took it off. not 4-1 APC, or even straight up LA`s Totally Awesome. not even a very stiff brush used with them. anybody know of something safe to use on nearly white colored seats that wont damage them?

Marine 31 fabric & vinyl cleaner might help? I used it to remove black spots on my in laws boat a while back:

Another option is Marine 31 mildew remover:

Pat used this stuff, and said it worked great on his.

    Ask him

Try the Marine 31 Mildew Remover. It should take care of those spots. I used it on some old mildewed ski vests with great results.

For boat vinyl, a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is... almost magic. Spray, scrub with Magic Eraser, wipe up with wrung out microfiber.

I read those posts on the Marine 31. looks good. its weird because we did a boat a month or so ago and it was the worst totally black seats you could imagine and they came nearly like new clean. then these have very tiny black dots and they wont come off at all, even with something as harsh as LATA, and are on a boat that`s only a few years old and is parked in a covered slip. I`ll look into the Marine 31 and will attempt the Magic Eraser as well. really appreciate the help!

It`s spider poop. Remove with Malco leatherl and plastic cleaner (best vinyl seat cleaner ever) and the sun will take the rest out. Apply 303 aerospace protectant after.

Magic eraser will remove the top coat of factory protectant from vinyl. I would only do this as a last result.

My process for seats that need HD cleaning

Malco cleaner listed above with a soft bristle brush. I use an air dynabrade but if you don`t have air tools use a scotch brite 7445 pad. Then apply 303 Aerospace Protectant after cleaning.

Malco leather and plastic cleaner is the only product I`ve used that no other cleaner even comes close. I use TA`s too but not on deep clean Malco is three times the product for boat seats.

If your boat seats has white threads that has discolored use hydrogen peroxide and a brush. I use air but if not, you can use a soft bristle brush. It won`t clean the vinyl seats but it will make white threads look brand new.

Another vote for for the Magic Eraser, from me. Too bad it`s not white vinyl, liquid bleach toilet bowl cleaner and Greased Lightning do the trick. Of course after using this method the vinyl needs to be wiped down with a clean damp rag to remove residue, then protected.
