So Merlin does this stuff turn clear like the original Essence when you near the end of the buffing cycle?

    Re: REVIEW: Carpro Essence Plus

Ok , I asked and found out:

    Cure Time?

within a few hours it is ok for water but 24 hours full cure.
Does it work on non-coated vehicles?

    Works AWESOME on non coated!
Here is a FAQ info I found

Lets get one thing out of the way first… CarPro Essence PLUS is NOT Essence… Where Essence could go UNDER the coat, Essence PLUS can go OVER the coat.
Essence PLUS is a unique, easy to use, SiO2 coat made from a distinct blend of ceramic coat repair agents, high gloss quartz resins, and hydrophobic nanoparticles!

The concept behind Essence PLUS was an extremely glossy, semi-permanent nano-agent for repairing durable ceramic coatings, which has been abused or mistreated over the course of time.
Historically, the only option that a technician had was to polish or compound the damaged ceramic coating and then re-coat, starting from scratch.

However… over the course of development, Essence PLUS grew into something… unexpected but equally satisfying!
It is not coated…but uncoated paint that finds its way into the “cross-hairs” of Essence PLUS!

With Essence PLUS, we introduce you to the first NON-abrasive solution to repair fine swirls, when an abrasive correction is not in the cards!
While increasing the gloss, Essence PLUS simultaneously cleanses the surface, leaving a “smooth as glass” feel and amazing hydrophobic properties!

    Features:

    • Cleans, glosses, and protects: bare paint, PPF, chrome, and glass
    • Use with D/A or by Hand
    • High Gloss Jeweling Coat
    • Repairs Nano Coatings
    • Adds layer of SiO2 Quartz protection
    • Excellent Hydrophobic Agent
    • Produces Extreme Gloss
    • Also formulated for Professional use on previously coated vehicles

    Precautions:

    • On coated surfaces – If using machine, use only with CarPro Gloss pad
    • On coated surfaces - Avoid “edging” pad into a curve and keep pad flush with paint
    • Keep container tightly closed after use
    • Keep container out of the sun
    • Test product on inconspicuous area before use
    • Store in cool dry place
    • Keep away from children
    • Do not ingest
    • Not for use as a primer

    FAQ: CarPro Essence PLUS

    Q. What tool do you expect Essence PLUS to be used as most?
    A. We expect that its most widely used application will be as a solution to a client that wants aggressive decontamination service but is unable to afford polishing… Marring from heavy claying or synthetic clay discs causes marring but with Essence PLUS it can be easily repaired and protected in one step. To be clear this is NOT the way we would use it in all scenarios but this is a widely experience challenge and a solution for it!

    Q. Is this like CarPro Essence?
    A. NO, this is NOTHING like Essence. This is an ENTIRELY new product.

Q. So how is it different?

A. In just about every way!
    PLUS contains zero abrasives!
    PLUS is extremely hydrophobic!
PLUS is NOT a primer and Essence is THE Primer.
PLUS is made for using on TOP of a damaged coating (or as another type of service on raw paint)

    Q. How are they the same?
    A. They both contain a Sio2 coating inside them that has filling capabilities, but Essence PLUS levels existing damaged coatings by building up. CarPro Essence on the other levels mostly with abrasives and partially with Sio2 coat.

    Q. Can I use Essence PLUS on top of Essence?
    A. Yes!

    Q. Can I use Reload over the top of Essence PLUS?
    A. Yes!

    Q. Can I use Essence PLUS underneath CQuartz like I did with Essence?
    A. No, this is not a primer like Essence is and coatings will not bond on top! If used inconjunction with a coating, this goes on TOP, not bottom.

    A. Can I use Essence PLUS to repair gloss and hydrophobic to a damaged coating?
    Q. Yes, depending on the level of damage you certainly can. That was the primary concept for this product. In some cases over time or through abuse, a coating can become damaged. Rather then removing and replacing the coating as your only option, we designed ES PLUS to provide another option of correcting or extending its life.

    A. How long does it last?
    Q. The truth is we cannot yet say. We have not yet tested to full capacity and we will certainly keep you updated as continued testing from all climates comes back. Early testing suggests months of beading and up to a year of repair to faint swirls.

    A. If I want to use it on a damaged coating, should I use a Microfiber pad and machine?
    Q. No, The Microfiber pad is abrasive and will remove the coating! You want to use only a CarPro Gloss pad as directed OR use by hand as directed. If that is not sufficient then you would be better off switching to CarPro Essence and other methods.
I hope this helps to answer some of the questions...

I`m not sure 100% what it is "supposed" to do, but for me I applied it similar to a sealant with a Rupes 21 via/5" BP & a Carpro Gloss pad.
I found it had a "haze" that I wiped off with a soft BOA microfiber towel. At that point I was done except for a few spots I needed to repeat.

Cool thats kind of how i imagined it working too. I know the directions said to use slow speeds (1-3) and work it for a couple passes but other than that couldnt find much other info.

Got a bottle im hoping to crack open next week. Lets hope it plays well in cold temps!

Do you think while working a more severely defected section multiple times it will fill more and more.

For a non coated car application, does this fill then leave the car LSP ready for a sealant of my choice

    OR

Does Essence PLUS have sealant properties by itself?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can advise. Great Pictures Merlin! No words.....

I have worked "a little extra" (product and time) on troublesome areas and the results have improved the swirled areas.

    It will fill non-coated paint.
IMHO You do not need to apply a sealant after Essence Plus.
    Essence Plus has sealant properties.
Possibly the occasional spray and wipe type sealant.

    Adjusting my thoughts...

I like the idea that "swirls are gone", it is hydrophobic, it has a durable filler, it is non-abrasive, it is glossy, and it is a LSP all in one product.

Think about the concept here for a minute...

Everything we have ever "learned" is compound (level) the paint, then polish the paint (to obtain clarity, sharpness and gloss), then apply LSP.
In truth, this can only be done so many times. Each time the paint gets thinner. I`ve seen brand new $$$ vehicles w/95 microns of OEM paint.
Using aggressive methods you can remove lots of CC with the very first correction on a new vehicle. "Always use the Least Aggressive Method".

I had a client that complained to me that a "detailer" corrected his paint and a few months later (where it was corrected) the clear coat failed.
Am I saying do not correct paint?..No, there are many, many vehicles that a full paint correction is needed. I am saying OEM paint is very thin.
I know a few folks that have corrected their vehicle too many times. They know that another correction can and will cause a clear coat failure.

There has been (and still are) many old skool products that "fill" swirls. They`re called a "Glaze". Some with a mild abrasive and some without.
Even a wax will "fill" swirls. You have all heard this..."I had my car detailed and the swirls were gone...after a few washes they all came back."
Glazes have been around for a long time. Outside of one product (I will not mention the name) they contain non durable fillers that`ll wash off.
(No, it is not Voldemort`s Elixir)

Short Version: "There are many vehicles where a full paint correction is not in the cards."

    Times change and technology changes...

    The concept is not new.
Old skool was product ABC...it "filled". It lasted a few washes.
New skool and new technology. Essence Plus with durable filler.

Essence PLUS is a unique SiO2 nano coating made from a distinct blend of ceramic coat repair agents, high gloss quartz resins, and hydrophobic nanoparticles!
The concept behind Essence PLUS was an extremely glossy, semi-permanent nano-agent for repairing durable ceramic coatings, which may have been abused or mistreated over the course of time!
    My Thoughts...

I can use Essence PLUS on a non-coated vehicle. I can use Essence PLUS on a coated vehicle.
Essence Plus is hydrophobic, it has durable fillers, it`s non-abrasive, it`s glossy, & it is a LSP.
It is a complete reverse on what I`ve been taught is the "proper" way to abrade/correct paint.

At first I hated it. Why? I wash, I decon, then I go around the vehicle one time and I am done.
    I use a Rupes 21 with a 5" BP and a Carpro gloss pad (IMHO a RUPES White 5 7/8" will work).
How can I justify the cost of a full paint correction when it feels like I only did a wash & wax?

Now I love it. Why? I have a "swirl free", high gloss finish without sacrificing paint thickness.
Modern vehicles are painted by robots. They do not use one extra drop of paint in the process.
Did I mention it`s faster? I go around the vehicle one time and I am done. Glossy & swirl free.

It it everything to everyone? Will the vehicle be 100% perfect when I`m done?
Will it remove swirls that look like the vehicle was washed with a Brillo pad?
Nothing is 100% folks...but IMHO this is a great tool to have in your arsenal.

    End of Soliloquy...
