Re: Big blue drying towel deal.

Everyones definition of towel is subjective..

You take a 1100GSM towel that is almost 2x4` and load it up with water, and sure it`s going to be helluva heavy.
If you are the type to wipe panels, the size is not exactly friendly.
IF you are the type to blot, you can lay 2 towels, one on the hood and one roof, and blot, then this towel is great for that application method.

If you use other means to dry your car (like blow drying), I get by with getting a 375gsm 16" towel that only get`s about 60% saturated by just blotting whatever small spec`s of left - blower tends to form mini beads of water.

IMO, there is no right or wrong...it really kinda boils down to how you dry. If you don`t blow your car, IMO these big blue towels are a great item to start with the hood and roof. I`m a huge fan of blotting .....

One that absorbs a lot of water yet still being able to manipulate it. For example the large big blue is good for large flat surfaces like the hood and roof of a truck or SUV. The issue I have with it is when you start trying to hold it to get other areas. Forget folding it over on itself. It`s too thick. The medium sized one is the same. It can only be folded in half. The small big blue has a similar construction as the rag company everest towel. I got away from these towels. After a few passes they don`t really hold water that well. They are too plush which gives you a lot of cushion between your hand and paint. It allows for a lot of movement from one`s hand placed on top of the towel. Meaning you could lose the towel if not held properly.

Exactly. Just *so* many variables! Another of those cases where "subjective" is both literally correct and perfectly sensible.

Most of the time I am using the pluffle. Easy to manipulate even in the largest size and holds a good amount of water. I use them for rinseless washes which are a majority of my washes. Also use them for a bucket wash to pick up any remaining water after using the McKee`s turbo car dryer.

Re: Big blue drying towel deal.

I used the medium sized big blue towel yesterday for the first time. After the first couple of passes I almost put it down because I just didn`t feel like it was picking up much water. I hung in there and finished a panel, after it was damp it worked awesome. It glided over the paint very easily, it didn`t catch on anything either which was nice. The towel is very plush and I feel it gives some margin of error as far as marring goes if something was missed during the wash process. I finished drying the whole car with it minus the glass. I did attempt to use it on the glass, but it was a little too grabby for my liking.

I mentioned earlier I prefer a waffle style towel on the glass because they glide a little smoother. The exception to the rule for me though is the PFM, I feel like I can use that on the whole car.

NLove- I too prefer a WWMF on glass, if only to avoid lint (all my plush ones eventually lint). That`s interesting that the Big Blue needed the dampness, thanks for mentioning it. Lots of MFs are like that, but it`s a pet peeve of mine that I *don`t* want in a Drying Towel.

Does a waffle weave out absorb a towel with fibers (fluffy) or the other way around?
