    Harley Davidson Detail

I detailed this Harley Davidson today. Polished painted areas with Menzerna IP followed by FP. Polishing was done with my mini Wen orbital. I used Optimum`s spray wax after I polished. Leather was cleaned/conditioned with Leatherique`s Pristine Clean. The chrome was only wiped with Sprayway glass cleaner, as it was not very oxidized. I degreased the engine and cleaned the whitewall tires with Hi-Temp`s Extreme Klean APC diluted 10:1. This was the first bike that I have done. The customer is having me come back tomorrow and do an older Harley.

Looks nice! How much did you charge? Did the Extreme really work well?

    Re: Harley Davidson Detail

Thanks for the comments. Bikes are definitely different than cars. Not nearly as much surface area, but more difficult to reach areas. I really like the Extreme APC, it is a great improvement over Hi-Temp`s old APC. I am charging this customer, who is a co-worker at my other job, $165 for this bike and the older one I am doing tomorrow. I know, I am undercharging him, but it was an experiment because I had never done a bike.

Took me 4 hours for the first one @ 25 and hour. The second one will probably take 5 or so. I wanted to charge him $180.

Great job. Pat yourself on the back! How did you clean/polish the spoked rims? Good procedure, tool or just grin and bear it

    Re: Harley Davidson Detail

Detailing bikes is a lot of fun in my eyes. I use to take a milk crate with a pillow and slide around the bike as I worked never have to get up,lot of small detail work.NEVER put any type of dressing on the tires and NEVER use anything but cleaner on the seat. If you put anything on the tires it can cause a accident and if you put any leather product on the seat(other then cleaner)it will make the seat slippery and usually the owners don`t like that.I owned a few HD and just my experience

I didnt polish the spoked rims. The customer really didnt want that much detail work. Most of the chrome and stainless was in good shape. Thanks for the tip on the seat. Thanks for the comments.
