Inside FLEX Polishers Part 2: Buyer`s Guide

This is PART TWO of our FLEX Polisher series. In Part One, we interviewed FLEX North American President Bob Eichelberg. You can read Part One Here.

Inside FLEX Polishers Part 2: Buyer`s Guide

When you pick up a FLEX polisher, you put German engineering and build quality in your hands! Why? Because all FLEX tools are developed and manufactured in Germany. FLEX takes their German-made tradition seriously, resulting in superior polishing machines that are known for their performance, quite-running power and swirl-destroying ability.

Simply put, FLEX polishers are built to exact standards. Each FLEX polisher features a durable housing, variable speed dial and trigger, controlled acceleration and advanced overload protection. To ensure a long operating life, FLEX polishers also feature temperature monitoring and automatic shut-off. These features are what set Flex polishers apart form the rest.

    FLEX polisher buying guide-

    Polishers

    Rotary Polisher.

FLEX offers a number of rotary polishers for the professional or end user. The flagship PE14-2-150 offers extreme performance in a lightweight, industrial-strength body. The FLEX 3403 VRG offers light weight and high performance in an affordable package.

The FLEX PE14-2-150 is the pinnacle of rotary performance. It is the Porsche Turbo. This amazing machine is super strong, lightweight, quite, cool running and powerful. It can vary in speed from 400 RPM all the way up to a defect-blistering 2100 RPM. Special air control venting and cooling fans keep the motor running cool and steady a low speeds.

The PE14-2-150 features bevel cut gears that are super strong and extremely quite. This is a machine you can talk over. The body is perfectly balanced and extremely comfortable. To learn more about the PE-14, click HERE.

The FLEX L3403 VRG is super lightweight, weighing less than most orbital polishers. The 3403 only weighs 4.8 pounds, making fatigue a thing of the past. FLEX`s famous seven-fold microprocessor with constant speed control ensures that your machine is delivering between 1100 and 3700 RPM`s at all times. The 880 watt output makes sure that you can even keep big pads spinning quickly. The FLEX L3403 VRG is not-quite the Turbo model, it does get a little warmer at low speeds and it is a far bit louder.

However, the 3403 VRG is a performance tool that gets the job done quickly. It is recommended to be used with 6.5 inch pads or smaller for best performance. To learn more about the 3403 click HERE.

    DA Polisher.

When FLEX launched the XC 3401 VRG Dual Action Orbital Polisher, the detailing world rejoiced! While DA/orbital polishers are nothing new to the automotive reconditioning market, the gear-driven, forced-rotation FLEX was the next break through. The XC 3401 VRG drives both the orbital and rotational actions of the pad off the motor, giving it the swirl-free polishing results you have come to expect with the safety of an orbital polisher.

The FLEX 3401 is the ideal polisher for somebody who is starting out machine polishing. The gear-driven, dual-action movement means that the user only has to focus on selecting the appropriate speed and moving the machine slowly & smoothly across the paint. The 3401 will take care of the rest.

Compared to other DA polishers such as the Cyclo, Porter Cable, Meguiars G100v2 and Griot`s, the FLEX is going to deliver substantially faster results while retaining the safety benefits of an orbital polisher such as less heat, less risk of burning an edge and little-to-no chance of creating swirl marks. Like the Austrian-born Arnold Schwarzenegger, the FLEX will pump up your DA polishing.

    Accessories

FLEX Grip Side Handle - If you prefer a side handle, the Flex Grip Side Handle is an excellent choice to upgrade your Flex polisher. The soft grip handle reduces the vibration felt in your hand, giving you more control over the polisher. Work for longer periods with less fatigue. The FLEX Grip Side Handle is a must for pro detailers or anyone who frequently uses a FLEX polisher. For: PE14-2-150, 3401 or 3403

FLEX Polisher Side Handle - The FLEX Polisher Side Handle can be added to any FLEX polisher to improve operator control and comfort. Rather than gripping a bale handle over top of the machine, your hand will be positioned to the side of the polisher. Many detailers find this position more comfortable and easier to sustain over long periods. For: PE14-2-150, 3401 or 3403

Adding a FLEX Grip Side Handle or Polisher Side Handle to your 3401 can improve leverage, and thus control, as the 3401 tends to steer in the opposite direction of a rotary polisher.

FLEX XC3401 Changeable Backing Plate System - The FLEX XC3401 Changeable Backing Plate System by Lake Country allows you to change from a 4 inch backing plate to a 6 inch backing plate using a specially designed gear plate. The gear plate attaches to the polisher in place of its factory backing plate. Onto this gear plate, you can mount either a 4 inch or 6 inch backing plate. Both options are included. Once in place, the backing plates perform like part of the machine. Hook and loop fasteners allow you to change pads quickly. The FLEX XC3401 Changeable Backing Plate System will allow you to use 4 inch, 5 inch, 5.5 inch and 6.5 inch pads with just the three pieces included here. For: 3401

FLEX Polisher Bag - The FLEX Polisher Bag stores your FLEX polisher, pads, and towels! Carry your buffer from job to job in this ruggedly constructed storage bag. Interior pockets and a large capacity make this bag perfect for storage and transport of all your detailing supplies.

FLEX Deluxe Polisher Bag- FLEX builds things tough. Their host of award-winning rotary and dual-action polishers is testament to their reputation for performance. The FLEX Deluxe Polisher Bag is the rugged polisher bag designed to hold your FLEX polisher or polishers, and more! Designed with internal storage straps and exterior pockets, the FLEX Deluxe Polisher Bag allows you to conveniently store and transport your polishing supplies.

FLEX Swirl Finder Light - Swirl marks and other gloss-hindering paint defects can no longer hide! Until they are illuminated by a bright light source, they remain in the shadows and rob your paint of gloss. The Flex Swirl Finder Light uses an extremely bright, cool-colored LED bulb which delivers over 010 lumens in an adjustable beam to the paint. The light is so bright that it unveils swirl marks, even in direct sunlight! That`s right, the Flex Swirl Finder Light finds the defects that the sun cannot!

How To Properly Use FLEX Polisher DVD - Mike Phillips has traveled the world teaching the art of machine polishing. Now Mike has teamed up with FLEX polishers to offer this new DVD: How To Properly Use FLEX Polishers. In this information packed DVD Mike covers the basics of machine polishing as it applies to all rotary and dual action polishers. Then Mike covers the details of the FLEX polisher range and how to get the maximum benefit from each while leaving your paint with a flawless shine.
