    Foam Tape Removal

I just got a car into the shop with a problem I have not dealt with in the past. It`s a 2003 Honda Accord coupe and the previous owner installed a pair of plexiglass window deflectors on the doors. I have removed them , but I am having a tough time removing the remnants of the foam adhesive tape . Any suggestions ?

Thanks , as I need to get this car finished for Friday !

Yes, you can use Goo Gone on a cotton towel, make sure its one that you will throw out. Apply the GG to the area a little at a time, allow to soak for a few minutes then start rubbing the glue off. Its a slow process but gets it off.

You could also get a 3M eraser wheel, but that`s overkill IMO for the job you are doing.

I`ve used a heat gun to soften the adhesive and Goo Gone to remove all of it. If you let the Goo Gone soak in the foam for a little bit it will come off pretty easily

Heating up is a good idea to soften old glue, if you do not have goo gone, WD 40 works well. be sure to give either product time to react and break down the glue. Good luck

Or you can use 3M adhesive remover, a spray can, pretty much removes adhesives really well. Usually you can find this at an automotive paint supply store, sometimes NAPA sells it, maybe even Amazon dot com?

So are the window deflectors coming off for good?

    Thanks Guys . I`ve tried WD 40 , I think that I`ll give the Goo Gone a try .
