    Hate to admit it...

I hate to admit, but I have never detailed the engine or engine compartment of any vehicle that I have ever owned. I took the lazy way out and considered it out of sight out of mind! Is there any place here on the forum that offers articles on getting started with engine detailing?

Isn`t it a better idea to use 303 protectant under the hood vs: cheap tire foam that attracts sand & dust??

Don`t mean to sound stupid, but I am assuming that APC means All Purpose Cleaner. Would Simple Green work?

I like Simple Green in certain situations. It is not however raw aluminum friendly so if it`s not coated don`t use it on aluminum surfaces.

In my experience, no matter what you use under the hood will eventually attract dust and dirt. CD2, Armor All, any tire foam, and 303 off the top of my head.
I still don`t believe in grit guards.

Yup, though I find that CD2 does make it easier to clean the engine next time around.

I have used these things with good results

    grease lightning
    car wash soap
wash mitt (old one just for engine)
    soft brush
    303
    microfiber towels.
