I was cleaning a Lexus ES300, when I hosed the car off the front side windows sheeted right away while the back ones seemed to sheet normally. Is there a coating that comes on these windows from the factory?

Not to my knowledge, although maybe someone else here might know better...perhaps someone recently put a coat of rain-x on the windshield...
I like beer. On occasion I will even drink a beer to celebrate a major event such as the fall of communism or the fact that our refrigerator is still working.

Maybe they roll the front windows down more than the back ones, which could lead to something being on the windows from the inside of the doors or something being "rubbed" off the windows by the weatherstripping. Just grabbing at straws....
I still don`t believe in grit guards.
Many people add those Rain-X type treatments these days. I would say it`s that.

Nope, Ive owned the car since day 1. No Rain-X on this ride.

It`s also possible that it`s different glass. I know a lot of Toyota`s (and yes, Lexus is a Toyota) use smoked or tinted glass for the back and rear windows. That could have something to do with it. Maybe the glass is even supplied by different suppliers.

Your glass may have been treated. Aquapel was being applied to the front side glass on the RX330 as a safety feature, right from the manufacturer.

I figured I would check the lexus website. It says "Water-repellent front-door glass with UV reduction"
I am very impressed with the water-repellent they use.
