Nice engine detail. That would be awesome if your hood could be slightly transparent like that...

How is that hood scoop with water / rain? seems like it would get a lot of water in there...I love the carbon hood look

It doesn`t hurt the intercooler to get water on it. Most of them are front mounted anyway and get a lot more water in them than mine does. The STi actually has sprayers on either side of the intercooler to help cool the air before it goes in. I don`t know if it is the scoop or if it is the way the grill is designed, but this engine gets really dusty in a hurry.

I`d have to guess that there is a fair amount of air moving around under that hood, because of the scoop...that`s my guess....what did the hood set you back its real cool looking.

It`s just some fancy photoshop work. Pretty cool looking though, eh? You can actually get acrylic hoods like that for show. They aren`t very practical for daily driving because I hear they crack pretty easily.

I use an APC and brushes then rinse off with water on very low pressure.....if the battery is real bad I use some vinegar and baking soda to clean up the terminals.....that`s the way that I clean the whole motor area.

you can`t detail an engine without getting it wet. Getting water on the battery isn`t anything to worry about. What you don`t want to do is wash the engine like you are putting out a fire. Just be aware of things like your alternator and exposed electrical fuse and relay boxes. Don`t get those soaked with degreasers or water. I`ve seen warm alternators start on fire when degreasers get in them, so make sure your engine is cold when you detail it.
