    Poorboy`s EX rules!

Applied EX today for the first time. My finish is in good shape so I just washed and applied. Buffed off easily and what a shine! If the durability beats S100 I`ll use EX exclusively.

    Pros:
    Easy on and off
    Provides UV protection
Apply to entire vehicle at once, wait 30 - 60 minutes then remove
Seemed to have a little "cleaning" ability
Can be purchased in gallon size.
    Outstanding shine

    Cons:
    Can`t think of any!

On newer finishes I don`t believe you need a polish, but I do want to try the Poorboy`s QD.

    Too many "cons" for me!

Seriously, sound great! But I do have one question............. what do you mean by "seems to have a "little" cleaning ability?

    I noticed this too...

I can`t tell when I do a clearcoated finish but if I use EX on a non-clear the color of the paint does end up on the applicator.

In side by side comparisons when Klasse SG, Platinum UPP or Zaino would leave the applicator free of color the EX would have the color of the paint on it so it must have a stronger chemical or a light abrasive in it for cleaning but I doubt layerability.

All that said it is very easy to use.

Hmmmmmm........................... Guess I`ll have to re-think layering it over UPP then?

    "cleaning ability"

I didn`t get any color on my pad ... guess I still have some clear coat left after all the products I`ve used.

What I meant, especially compared to S100, it seemed to remove water spots a lot easier. While S100 has no cleaning ability what`s so ever, EX seems to have a very small amount.

If you have clearcoat of course you won`t see color but try it on a non clear paint and you will see what I mean.

Actually since the product has carnuba in it ..a small amount of PD is in all wax products including the EX and that will account for the trace of color on a non-clearcoated vehicle.

    PD

Is PD harmful to clear coated finishes?

No ...all wax products have PD...carnuba in its raw form is harder than a candle and would be impossible to spread...

I thought PD was the stuff that made products like NuFinsh abbrasive.

No PD stands for petroleum distillates...which are in various forms of kerosene, mineral spirits, etc..

I`m not the chemist but the process takes pure carnuba an some PD"S and a couple other ingredients and turns it into a liquid emulsion which gets poured into either bottles or cans and then thickens depending on the amount of PD....

Think of this... the most a paste wax has of Carnuba is 14-17%
what do you think the rest is

Yes, good info, and explains why I normally don`t top a sealant with a carnauba, as multiple application with the PD`s in there will eventually (if not sooner) remove the sealant. This would also expalin why multiple coats of EX have little effect on durability, as the EX is probably cleaning most of itself up with each application.

Still, if it has the durability I`ve heard, it`s probably more than sufficient!

One other note to mention..got a little sleep in there..lol...is the reason you can layer waxes and EX is because you`re not really rubbing into the previous layer like polishing...another reason I prefer to work the final steps by hand. Just gliding above the previous layer will not be enough to remove much of anything...

Good point Steve! Using a PC to apply the EX probably shouldn`t be advised, if your intent is to "layer" the EX, or layer the EX over another product.
