Anybody got any tips for compound? I`m in the middle of using it on my F250 and having a hell of a time wiping it off
Are you overworking it? In my experience, it won`t take nearly as many passes as you`re probably used to to get the correction and finish you need. I`ve nearly perfected some absolutely awful utility truck paint in 2 passes at 1100rpm.

Been doing 3-4 passes. I`ll give less a shot

Yeah, I don`t know. I clean out my pad after every section. I tried a Lake Country yellow cutting pad and a Rupes course microfiber pad. I used 3-4 pea sized drops per section. I also tried less, and I tried more. I mostly did 3-4 passes per section, then tried 2 passes. Seemed like no matter what I did it would almost like bond itself to the paint and I would have to rub like hell to get it off. I even tried spritzing it with ONR at detail spray dilution and Eraser and neither helped much. I ended up doing 2 passes on a section and then dabbed 2 pea size drops of AAT Finishing polish on the same pad quickly going over the same section once or twice. At that point I was able to wipe it pretty clean. I also was able to do a few more sections after that without going over it with the finishing polish before I had to do that again.
I`ve gotta experiment with it more. I was really hoping I could throw my half bottle of 105 that I have left out, but after using this stuff for the first time it didn`t seem that much more user friendly. Or maybe I just suck at using compounds. One thing I did notice is I was using my Flex Kompakt with a wool cutting pad on some smaller sections and curves that I couldn`t get a 5.5" pad in and I didn`t seem to have as hard of a time wiping it off when using that. Everything else was done with my Rupes.
Very weird... Stuff worked like a dream for me.
David, this gives me a big reason to shoot over the border to come see you! I really want to try this out, especially given how well it works with black wool, which has been my favourite for several years.
I just got my 8oz bottles of these. I must say, i havent tried them yet, but i did smell them, and the smell is quite strong lol
Keep in mind that the 3D AAT line was designed to be used primarily with a rotary buffer, so AAT Compound & Finishing Polish can be a bit finicky on certain paints when used with a DA polisher. Especially when there is silicone present on the surface from prior waxes and quick detailers. Despite this, it can still perform great with a DA too. If you experience any sticking, try using 3D Waterless Wash or HD Touch (or even alcohol) with removal. This sticking shouldnt hinder performance.
