How do from the Philly burbs...

Been lurking for a few weeks now- trying to learn how to take care of our cars! Gotta say that you all are artists when it comes to making cars look *better* than new!!! Kudos! I hope to someday possess the skill (and desire) to attain the same results...

The stable:

2004 Jetta GLI VR6 - Platinum Grey / Black
2004 Honda Pilot - Green / Fern (looks grey)
1995 Porsche 968 - Aventuring Green / Grey (ex-track car- long term project, I mean LONG term!)

I believe I violate all the detailing cardinal sins:

1) Never actually waxed a car before
2) Use dishwashing detergent!!!
3) And basic sponges to clean
4) Bird poop lives a long an healthy life on the paint surface on our cars
5) Pretty much anything bad to do to your car's finish, I do! (and well I might add!!)

So I am here to learn!

Already have my first question, hopefully in the correct forum.

Jim aka Biotechee

Jim, Welcome to Autopia!! I'm newly registered, but I've been a lurker for years and have been detailing professionally for a few years. You will most definitely learn a bunch on this site, I know I have.

Where in the Philly burbs do you reside? I'm in Williamstown in Jersey.

Enjoy the site!

Re: How do from the Philly burbs...

North of Philly- basically Doylestown.

My father lives in Williamstown (that's Franklin township, right?).

You folks had some crazy stuff goin' on the other night down there! Must be the Pineys - or the Jersey Devil!

Definitely glad I found this place- it's like car porn in the Click-n-Brag... I envision my work productivity dropping significantly!

Yea, I don't know about some of these people down here...lol

Williamstown is actually Monroe Township, but Franklin Township is the next over, so he's basically right outside Williamstown. Small world!!!
