I have only lived here 4 years so I'm no expert but I can tell you that the public school system in Columbia county (Martiez/Evans) is much better than Richmond co. (Augusta). Columbia county is growing fast and has a lot of new neighborhoods. Evans was something like #32 in the "100 Best Places to Live" list last year.

I have live in Augusta area for about 15 years. Richmond County for 8 years. Then move to Martinez area in Columbia County for the other 7 years. Columbia County is a much better area to live and better schools. I agree with 06E90 Evans would be the place to look.
