Newbie from UK

Found a link to this site from Detailingworld in the UK so thought I'd join up. Thinking about taking the plunge and getting myself a Porter Cable..........

From one UK detailer to another, the PC is a fine purchase. Not powerful enough to cause any serious damage, yet still very effective for working on all but the most neglected finishes.
There are some extra bits you'll need to buy to get it working UK-side and there are other very informative posts on this subject, but I'll summarize what I did:

1. Bought the DAS polishing Kit from autopia-carcare.com - includes the PC 7424 (with US plug), a flexible backplate and the Sonus DAS range of polishing pads.

2. Placed an order with Screwfix Direct for a 110V site transformer and 110v extension cable

3. Took the plug off one end of the extension cable, removed the US mains cable, and hard wired the 110V extentsion cable right into the PC. (So now the PC has a long yellow cable and plugs right into the transformer.
