Hello all. First post.

New guy here from Charlotte, NC.

My car has some pretty bad water stains on the back windshield. I am considering one of two things but have some questions. I am hoping someone here can help me out.

1) Glass polishing kit (Diamondite, DP, Zaino, etc) - I do not have a polisher. Can these products be used by hand? I do have a cordless drill, can I use these products with that?

2) #0000 wool - When using steel wool should I wet the wool/window and rubbing or should it be done dry? Does anyone have any comments as to the effectivness off steel wool?

Thanks.

First welcome to club second * I * would not use steel wool on my windows. I have used Diamondite by hand and it removed a lot of stubborn water spots. I have DP but have not had the chance to use it on a customers car yet. if you had a PC you could also use AIO, that works well for me. I am sure there will be other suggestions. good luck and happy detailing

Thanks for the quick reply. Can I ask why you wouldn't use steel wool (even 0000)?

I do not think it is needed. no too mention more than one person has scratched their glass using it. as always I prefer to use the least agressive approach. I feel you will still have micromarring ( very fine scratches) once they are there good luck getting rid of them. some people even use vinegar on waterspots but I have not had much luck with it. it might be worth a try but it the spots have been there a while most likely will not help you. hope this gave you a couple of options. I am sure others will jump in as well.

I use AIO on a 4" cutting pad on the PC. I haven't encountered anything as of yet that could stand up to that.

Welcome to the board!
