Hi everyone,

New member here from across the pond in Nottingham England. I keep reading on various forums the merits of Meguires, Zainos, and other such excellent polishes.
We dont seem to have them over here, unless they're sold under different names.
I'm keen to remove, polish out (or whatever you can recommend) the inevitable swirl marks and bring my paintwork up to maximum gloss and reflectiveness.
Your input would be appreciated.
Photo of my car enclosed.
Thanks everyone,

Cheers, Mick

to Autopia catswhiskers!

Beautiful auto you got there. I can only barely see some evidence of swirling on the passanger front bumper area... If they are indeed swirls.

There are many polishes discussed here. I would recommend some of the 3M products or Meguiars pro line products, but I don't know what you have available to you there.

Mick,

Well some are available here, PM me for a couple of sources (just in case I get my knuckles wrapped for advertising), but we should create a thread we can point people at listing the products available in the UK.

One of the problems you will come across is that although it would appear that some products are available here, some of them can have a different formulation.

If you decide to order products from outside the UK, beware of carriage and customs costs! Its a bit annoying that quite a few of the manufacturers don't have UK distributors (although I know a man who probably would be happy to if some of us got together to create a demand and make it worth his while)

Welcome, Mick! Gorgeous car! And glad you found Autopia. Get ready for a serious case of brain-overload.

You'll find there are a surprising (to me, at least) number of UK Autopians. Seems to me that you all might want to start a thread in the Hot Tub forum to find each other.

BTW, butchdave, there's no problem at all in giving folks the names/URLs of vendors. Only problem about the "advertising prohibition" is that one can't promote/advertise a product in which s/he has a personal interest. You'll find lots of threads where folks share info on good vendors. So fire away.

Thanks Lynn!

OK, first step PM Alex Creasey. He has a detailing supply business in the UK and he is importing some (eg Clearkote) products from the US (but PM for the full product list). For example he is selling P21S including delivery for less than I can buy P100 here.

Here are some other links, but aside from the 3M one I have no personal experience with any of them yet

Car Lack/ Klasse Car Lack (who supposedly make Klasse) claim that the product they sell is very close in formulation to AIO - but theres no SG (please feel free to refer to the acronyms ). No UK distributor

dftowel reckons he supplies MF towels into the UK - I haven't found anyone will to do the same with PakShak towels yet (you can PM them).

Einzett - another German company without a UK distributor - but cheaper than importing from the US! You should be able to find some products reviews

Grojet Another German company without a UK distributor! They do an AIO type product and claim the English version of the site will be up soon.

Dr Wack products

Another Meguiars distributor

Zainos European distributor - you guessed it - in Germany!

Another Meguiars distributor - but with a bigger range than you can get from Meguiars UK!

Don't forget the 3M link that Splichy gave - but their distributor list seems several years out of date - 4 out of 5 of my local ones weren't even there anymore!

And if you keep reading about people going on and on about Simple Green for engine cleaning then try their UK site

No automotive products listed yet - maybe we should email them
