Newbie

Hi!

My name is Patrik and I'm a 27 year old detailer from Sweden.

Over to the questions.
1. How did you wind up at Autopia?
I Google'd "car detailing" looking for a new job outside Sweden and found the link to this forum.

2. What do you like most about detailing?
How I'm able to change almost every vehicle from whatever state it's in to something amazing.

3. What are your favorite products/processes and why?
I havent been able to test as much products as I want to but 3M, Meguiars and Zymöl are three brands I really like to work with. I don't really hade a favorite process, I like the way the vehicle gets better with every step from washing to the final touches.

4. What's your dream car and why?
My dreamcar to own are either the Aston Martin DB9 och the Dodge Viper.
I don't really have a dreamcar to work with but my I have a wierd attraction to black cars.

5. What's the best thing you learned on Autopia?
I just registered so I have not gotten time to read and learn anything so far.

6. What are some of your other hobbies and interests?
Cars and my dog, quite simple

7. Do you have any pets? If so, types, names, pics.
Dog, a crossing from collie and german shepherd, he is about 3.5 years old and listens to the name Merlin. Pics will come when I can post them

8. Name three secret techniques that you think you should share to fellow Autopians.
I don't know if I have any secret techniques...

9. Where are you from and where do you live now?
I'm from the south och Sweden and thats where I live right now. I hope that I some day will find some place to work outside Sweden but in these days I'm not really filled with hope

10. What was you first car and what got you interested in keeping cars perfect?
My first car was a Volvo 240 Turbo, my second car was a black Volvo 740 with 217479miles behind it. I started detailing it and when I was done people started asking who had repainted it. I had a really hard time to convince them that it was the original paint, specialy with the miles. My friends started to ask if I could take care of their cars and soon I got hired by a company and things really took off. That was nine years ago and since then I have, among all others, detailed about 15 pricewinning cars.

11. What motivates you to detail?
What doesn't, who doesn't want to have ha clean and shiny car. But if I have to pick one its the look on the face of the owner when he och she gets to see their "new" car. All of a sudden all the hard work really pays off.

12. Would you ever pay someone else to detail your car?
Noooooooooo, don't trust anyone else and I havn't found anyone who does the job as good as me

13. Does detailing run in the family at all, or are you the only normal one?
I'm the only normal one, I'm from a sporty football family. I'm the only one who not only have my car to get to and from work.

14. What is your favorite part about detailing?
Everything, it wouldn't be fair to any of the procedures to just pick one

15. If detailing is a hobby for you, would you like to do it full time, or do you feel that it would take the fun out of it?
I have it as a hobby and I work with it.....I live for making the world a more shiny place to live.

Aaaaand I hope you can overlook my bad spelling, I'm Swedish

Soo, thats me, any questions?

Re: Newbie

Thanks! I hope to learn some new stuff that I can use in my work. I have allready read a few threads and you guys "over there" seems to have somewhat a different attitude to carcare. I'm not saying that its a bad thing, just different to what I'm used to,
