Just need a good wax that will hold up, I plan on using Turtle ICE but I'll wait and see what you guys recommend.

You hit the nail on the head with your thoughts. work can be done by hand that will impress you but the time you save with a pc will be worth it. also we just can not move our hand as fast as a pc goes. you can even use the pc to apply and remove wax ( with a microfiber bonnet on a foam pad ) I might suggest some Collonite 845 for the winter , easy to apply , looks pretty good and last a while. for winter I love to use ( via pc ) Jeff Werkstat prime or prime strong and their sealant Acrylic Jett: Trigger. it is a spay on and wipe off sealant. I have had excellent results with the JW line. also the optimum sealant is super easy to use, wipe on walk away LOL ! it looks good and last a long time. the big thing for me is that the pc and a paint cleaner or a glaze will bring out the best in the paint and save you time to to enjoy the shine. there are just so many products to use it can be mind boggling. since you will have more time on you hands you might want to try washing the car with optimum no rinse as it is quick easy and effective. this method should reduce the chance of wash induced marring. I see you sent me a message and I will take a look at it now. figure I can shoot you some small samples and you can try before you buy hey we all can agree or disagree on products but all in all we share the common goal in mind to keep our rides looking their best .

Re: Jason's Introduction Page

Guys I just watched this video and I have to say that I probably won't go the PC way but perhaps the Flex XC way, any thoughts regarding these 2 machines?

I'm looking to buy a DA real soon so I need your opinion. Here are my 3 choices so far:

Flex XC 3401
Porter Cable 7424xp
Griot's Garage Random Orbital 6 Inch Polisher

which do u think is the best choice (I know this is all a matter of personal opinion) but seeing as how I've never owned one and you guys have far more experience then I do, your opinions matter.

Re: Jason's Introduction Page

Been reading some reviews on the Griots polisher ( since I have not used it ) and they were very positive. for the price and the lifetime warranty that was mentioned, it looks like it is may be the way to go.

That is a beautiful car( especially in harsh Chicago weather) and congrats on your newborn and your service to the country. This forum has been very helpful to a weekend detailer like myself.

Re: Jason's Introduction Page

Hey Guys just wanted to send a Special Thanks to flatstick (Matt) he sent me a box full of goodies, and even when I insisted that he let me pay him for his time and products, he would not allow me to.

I guess that's what this Club is all about...people helping out each other....learning from each other. Since I've joined I have not met a person here that wouldn't at the drop of a dime be quick to offer some help or at least give you some advice regarding products they have used and their experiences with them (which will save you a lot of money when u think about it). I believe this speaks volumes as to the caliber of people we have here, one's who are always willing to help out.

Matt sent me some good stuff, I can't wait to try them out (when it stops raining here in Chicago!) here's what he sent:

-Jeff Werkstat acrylic jett trigger spray sealant
-Jeff Werkstat prime strong
-BlackFire Gloss Enhancing Polish
-Collinite 845 liquid wax
-Ultima Paint Guard Plus
-Poorboys Natural look
-Poorboys Spray & Wipe

when Photobucket will allow me to upload pictures (because it keeps giving me this 404: Error message) I will take some pictures of this stuff to show you all.

My only question now would be.....in what order would I use all this stuff?

Assume that I will pressure wash this vehicle and use the tri-color soap and spray her down, then dry her off with a MF, and then clay her.....in which order would I use the products noted above? These are all new products to me and did include a letter describing each of them but when it comes to sealants and polishes and wax's and paint guards, a particular order would be nice to know.

Thanks to Matt for the gift I really appreciate it man

Re: Jason's Introduction Page

Jason,

You are very welcome on the box of goodies that I sent you. once you get you car washed clayed and dried, I would use the prime strong as you paint cleaner and follow with either the 845 , JW trigger or upgp. any of these would be the some good winter protection. if you choose to follow up the prime strong with the UPGP , it is the easiest to use and is really a wipe on and let it vanish without wiping off. the prime trigger is slightly more work than UPGP as you need to spray a panel and wipe it off LOL ! the 845 is applied very thin and I let it dry for like 20 minutes them remove slight haze. I gave you three lsp choices so you can compare them. the blackfire gloss enhancing polish should give you a little wetter look on the black paint and I would top it with the collinte 845, due to the fact that I do not know if the other sealants will bond to it as well as they would the prime strong. you should use the S&W on your ride when it is just a little dusty but not a lot of dirt or rock salt. you can also use the S&W to remove bird bombs or you door jambs to keep them clean. the pb natural look does a descent job on the interior or for cleaning the plastic and hoses in your engine compartment. hope I did not give you too many options to try at once but at least you can have some fun deciding what to try next
drop me a line if you need any more help.
